Bio

There are two possible scenarios where DeuceZ (David J. Benson) began his journey through music: Whether it was recording simple raps through his sister's karaoke machine or recommending a "Freestyle Folder" to his fifth grade classmates to express their artistic sides while breaking from language arts lectures, David J. Benson has not stopped running since 1999. It was the karaoke machine where he would find his annoying high pitched voice (at the time) and the folder where he would write poetry and ultimately experiment writing rap lyrics.

Focusing on a genre that is perceived to be consumed with over-saturated content of sex, drugs, violence, and glamor, DeuceZ hopes to provide an alternative while still being conscious of the aforementioned. When Jessica Benson, his older sibling, joined the multi-platinum recording r&B group 3LW, he knew one thing: anything was possible.

Currently in Atlanta, Georgia, DeuceZ started his journey in Anne Arundel County, Maryland traveling back and forth to DC and Baltimore for concerts, shows, and open mic nights. Known in the county as an upcoming football talent, he quit the team his sophomore year of high school and spent most of his time in the basement recording and learning how to make beats. He caught the eye of many people in his area and was selected by his classmates as most likely to be famous; not only for his talents but his charisma with his classmates, class clowning dialogue, and likability.

Five years later he is 4 independent albums deep into the game and an unsigned hype who has caught the attention of Hip Hop legends such as C-Rayz Walz & Evidence (Dilated Peoples). In the ever changing Atlanta Hip Hop scene DeuceZ is slowly building a buzz after finding his sound. Even before interning with Grand Hustle he was a self-proclaimed King (feeling that anyone who is confident can make the claim). King DeuceZ is driven by his soulful roots. Perhaps this is why he and his best friend started a group by the name of Royal Souls. He is still helping to construct the first Royal Souls album while advocating a movement with Young Lyxx's Top Heavy University.
