Rising Sacramento star Kingi is set to sit amongst R&b royalty with the upcoming release of his new music. With a name like Kingi which is spelled with a King in it his vibe is filtered through his music. When Kingi was 5 years old he realized that he had a talent for singing and dancing. He started out performing at local talent shows and even graced the stage of the California State Fair. He developed his talent by performing songs by legendary groups like New Edition. Some of his other inspirations are Michael Jackson and D'Angelo. Kingi describes his style as being smooth and relatable to people of all walks of life. His vibrant sound creates a vibe that anyone can connect with.

Although his music is considered R&b it also has a hip-hop vibe that reflects his upbringing in the Sacramento neighborhood of Oak Park which has produced talented artists such as Mozzy. Even though he is from what is considered to be a rough area he pushes positivity with his music with the intention of uplifting his community. Kingi’s mother was a major influence in his upbringing and was able to keep him on the right track so he could avoid the pitfalls of the streets. He has also been able to take advantage of mentors and surround himself with positive influences.

One of his keys to success is keeping a strong work ethic. He tries to write a song every day. “ Music is always going’ on in my life for sure”, says Kingi. He also believes in being spiritually aware and staying in touch with the soul. “You have to always keep sight of yourself”, says Kingi.  The message he wants fans to get from his music is to always follow your dreams. “I've been at a place where I’ve doubted myself not knowing where things were gonna go”, says Kingi, so it's like I'm at a place right now where I believe in myself, I'm taking the chance, I'm going all in with music.”

“Continue to follow your dreams and do what you love and you’ll be able to have what you want”, he says.

“Liberty Road”, has been of his biggest songs so far. This is a track that he wrote, produced, and then released to SoundCloud and it has now garnered thousands of plays. He is now prepping the release of his official single “Fortunate.” Kingi’s music is a blend of hip-hop and R&B.  He uses influences from the New Jack Swing era to fuse both genres together to create a cohesive sound that is contagious. He has a youthful sound mixed with an old-school foundation that will attract a wide audience. Working with Sacramento producer DB has also been instrumental in taking his music to the next. Their chemistry allowed them to create the songs which caught the attention of Black Market Records.

Kingi’s music and positive vibe are set to produce great things in his life and establish his position in the music industry. This will also allow him to give back to his community and become a mentor to others like the people that have had a positive impact on his life. He would like to one day establish a prestigious music academy in his neighborhood. This will give the youth the ability to hone their talents. Giving back to his community is very important to Kingi and is one of the things his mentors have impressed upon him. The future is looking very bright for Kingi, Sacramento’s King of R&B.
