King Kayak

BandPopAlternative

Collectively we play a mixture of post-punk, new wave, black and white stripey pop music with dark synths, happy organs, optimistic guitars, adrenalin fueled beats, enlightened bass, quirky lyrics and cool melodic sensibilities.

Lyrics

Seascape

Written By: Veks Isism & Annie Kisster

Stay down, stay down, stay down
let's escape into the bat-house coz the zoo is very loud
Two years daytripping like this is too much to endure
and we just don't have the time

In the dark with the wings brushing past your face
we start talking and the world has a different taste,
so short, so sweet, and different every time we meet

All I wanted was to make us sure
I sometimes wonder what we're fighting for
We're not heading for a breakdown

Come down, come down, come down
there's something I should tell you and it isn't very loud
That kid who had a thing about bikes
I never said it to him but I didn't even like him

Now we're talking and the world has a different taste
It doesn't matter if we're tired of the human race
so short, so sweet, and different every time we meet

All I wanted was to make us sure
I sometimes wonder what we're fighting for
We're not heading for a breakdown

Could it be that I wasn't even watching?
Or is it more like this is something really hard to find?
And now I know as we're talking all about it,
that in the dark we're not ever blind

Coz it's all about a change of heart
It doesn't matter if the world gets torn apart
We're moving in a different way
and they just can't say that we're making mistakes

Seascape Seascape

We'd better go and do what'll make us happy
Escape to the sea somewhere far way
We'd better go and do what'll make us happy
coz we're changing day by day

And now it's all about a change of heart
It doesn't matter if the world gets torn apart
We're moving in a different way
and they just can't say that we're making mistakes

JOHN

Verse 1

This was not meant to be blood-sport
Not to be televised, well Im just passing thoughts
Of someone who once found that hed lost his nerves
And he lived in a house in a street where we used to meet

And I discovered that

The dogs might bite at your heels as youre walking home
If we run, we’ll run through the fields and know
That we ran, we ran with the horses
And were pushed and were pushed and were pushed and

Chorus

Down, down, its a terrible world, if you dont believe it you wont be feeling
Down, down, its a terrible thing weve said
When we were running we were running with the horses
Not a day cast overboard
Down, down, its a terrible thing weve said, weve said

Verse 2

I was on the silent stairs in the afternoon
And his coat hung to his shins, as he left the house, I went into his room
Just to feel and think and sense, like a silhouette
And the days, like a maze but I wont forget

’cause I discovered that

The dogs might bite at your heels as youre walking home
If we run, we’ll run through the fields and know
That we ran, we ran with the horses
And were pushed and were pushed and were pushed and

Chorus

Down, down, its a terrible world, if you dont believe it you wont be feeling
Down, down, its a terrible thing weve said
When we were running we were running with the horses
Not a day cast overboard
Down, down, its a terrible thing weve said, weve said

Bridge

If the sun shines in your room its a sign
Its a sign to say that things will change
Like a bag full of bottles smashed up again, or the feeling of sinking inside
Its something you wouldnt decide
So the day turned into something, and the years turned into nothing
But something kept me touching, something kept me touching
Close your door, yes close your door
And well talk about the thoughts, Ill think about

Chorus
