Bio

Channeling the multiple talents of a modern Renaissance Man, King Kun aka Dejuan Davis, has mastered the art of creating majestic music. From producing hot tracks, to writing thought provoking lyrics, to being a true musician at heart, King Kun has evolved into a powerhouse musician known for his eclectic style and unique swagger.

Kun’s music transcends all genres and pulls inspiration from the music greats of an old school era gone by. His current album “Wild Kingdom” executive produced by Grammy-award winning producer, DJ Toomp, is already receiving rave reviews from within the music industry. But King Kun’s journey from a prince to a king did not come without any consequences.

Born Dejuan Davis to a single mother, King Kun grew up in one of Atlanta’s most notorious neighborhoods nicknamed “The Bluff.” Even today, the Bluff is well known for its heroin, prostitution and crime with many of the young men either ending up dead or incarcerated by the time they reach their adolescent years. But King Kun’s story took a different path.

Kun’s love affair with music began as a young child. Following the musical footsteps of his uncles, one an aspiring pianist and the other on guitar, along with his mother’s boyfriend, a saxophonist, Kun bought his first drum machine and began producing music for a group he formed called The HAVEKNOTZ. The group consisted of friends and family members who performed in local MC battles around town.

After the death of his mother, King Kun underwent some tough times. With no father figure in the house, Kun became a self-supportive youth, using the proceeds of his labor to fund his music ambition. Kun’s MC skills soon helped make a name for himself as a breakthrough up-and-coming Hip Hop artist.

Kun’s undeniable musical talents landed him with a full music scholarship to Morris Brown University but after a brief stint in school, Kun decided to leave university life behind and enter into the music industry full time.

Known as a triple threat in the industry as an artist/producer/writer, Kun is able to hear and create music with a unique sound. In the role as a producer, Kun’s understanding of the elements of music and what makes for a good track, allows him a musical advantage over other artists. His ability to identify with the different movements in the tracks, emotions, time changes, and climaxes comes in handy as a writer and artist causing him to write to the emotion of the track instead of just dropping a verse on the beat.

Today, King Kun is recognized as one of Atlanta’s hottest artists and super producers. All subjects pay attention, Kun will be the name heard round the world as his new single “Talkin' Bout Money” invades the radio airwaves.

When asked what quote inspires him the most, Kun quoted James Dean and said, “Dream as if you’ll live forever, Live as if you’ll die today.”
