"musicinoxford review from a gig with the mountain parade"

As a songwriter, his style reminds me a little of the short-story writer Saki: there’s a vein of misanthropy and waspishness lurking under the studious John Major mildness:

“Replace a wife with a dog. You don’t need to listen to what a Labrador says”

The King hooks up profitably on one song with the Queen of the Mountain Parade, Roxy, and I’d like to hear more of this, as the sound they get, while retaining simplicity, is deeper and sweeter than when he plays on his own. Altogether, the set was a nervous, eccentric triumph, with at least two promoters in the audience keen to book him. - musicinoxford.co.uk

"nightshift zine review winter warmer 2010"

"we’re in time to
catch KING OF CATS, who wanders around the venue
emoting in startling fashion, like a nutter who’s wandered in from the blizzard
to sing us his singularly tragic and surreal life story. One more daydreaming
number is about being Hannah Montana’s guitarist, but he saves his best to
last, the more tender ‘Cat Manoeuvres’." - nightshift zine (oxford)

Discography

I released several EPs in my younger years that have all been sold out or lost.Until i released my first single , 2000AD (2009) , I never really kept copies for myself , and many of the recordings have been lost.
I also released a demo EP in 2010 called Torgo Sings.
The recordings that are avaliable today are mainly from Torgo Sings ,2000AD and various recordings that are soon to be included in an upcoming LP!

Bio

I started writing and performing simple songs when I was 15 , and it has been a long , slow road to develop my unique style of music since then.I have never veered from the DIY approach I started off with ,using whatever equipment happens to be around , and creating emotion and power out of simple beginnings.I have been on many adventures as king of cats, most recently going on my first ever tour! It was a brilliant experience playing in the darkest cellars and the lightest seaside huts in towns I had never even visited before.I have definately developed a performing style that I did not expect to have the balls to pull off when I first started! My shows are unpredictable moments of release. This may sound like a foolish way of describing it , but I certainly believe that if every show is made a spectacle , then everybody comes away having been through something rather than simply watching and forgetting!
I am definately influenced by Frank Zappa , who ,through music could make us all inhabit his fucked up world, and Neutral Milk Hotel , who created a massive urge to release music in me.
