King Otis originated in the Spring of 2005 in Memphis ,TN. Initally a provocative instrumental trio, the group recognized the chemistry, and a truly original sound began to take shape. Soon the group added one of Memphis' finest up and coming emcees to the mix. Self-described as a Hip hop, Experimental, Funk hybrid; King Otis emphasizes grooves, innovative compositions, and fresh party jams. They started out on the fast track performing with established local and regional acts at indoor and outdoor festivals. King Otis has shared the stage and played with acts such as Hope Clayburn (James Brown, Herbie Hancock, STS9, Galactic), the Tunnel Clones, the Iron Mic Coalition, Freeworld, and local phenom Khari Whynn (Solstice, Public Enemy, 7th Octave). King Otis draws upon many styles including jazz, classical,funk, and rock.
