Bio

“Energy Powered Rock”
Is about the only way to describe this four-piece band hailing from Kansas City, Mo. Blending several different styles of music including funk, reggae, blues, hardcore, and heavy grunge; and influences ranging from SRV, Hendrix, and the Doors to Rage Against the Machine, STP, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sublime, 311 and Metallica, Kingpin has created a unique and versatile sound all their own. Combining this with their energetic and passionate stage presence they have been able to rock all kinds of audiences, and can play along side any genre.

Formed in August of 2000 in South Kansas City by the remaining members of “the Influence”, Kingpin in a relatively short time has managed to build a solid fan base, and have been able to play some of the biggest venues in Kansas City.

Jay Jiovenale is the vocalist, James Watkins handles guitar duty, Ron Ortiz delivers the bass and Jeremy "Worm" Campbell lays the beat down on the drums. This bands talent and versatility is easy to hear in the 17 songs they have recorded in their brief trips to the studio since 2001. However, the recordings are nothing compared to their live performance. It is what the band lives for, and you're always in for one helluva show.

In 2003 they were one of two bands selected from the Kansas City area for the Budweiser True Music Live program which features the best up and coming bands across the country. Their single "Get Up" was selected to be used in a commercial promoting the band and True Music Live as well as being selected to be used in a video about Dale Earnhardt Jr. which will be featured at every Nascar event in the 2004-2005 season.

The band also is getting ready to release a new EP entiled "Paths" by the end of May and will be expanding regionally to support the new release.
