KING RICH

King Rich is a local artist that feels like he plays the role of the Peoples Champ. "I speak for the people who have no voice. I look to paint pictures through storytelling and ultimately give listeners a direct line into my life. I aim to make visual relatable music!"

Born and raised in Memphis, TN, the 27 year old started seriously doing music about 9 years ago. Throughout high school, he made beats for fun but it wasn't until he graduated that he began to actually write lyrics. He says that he was inspired by the freedom that artists had to express themselves and be creative and he was always looking for a way to express himself. That's how he found his talent and passion for music. For him, the best part about being a musician performing artist is having a voice. "With music, we as artists have so much power to affect the world. I'm a very caring person so I feel for the world and a lot of the individual situations that people go through in everyday life. I just love the fact that I can touch people...even change or inspire them and at the same time help them get through situations when they need lifting up." His major aspiration is to spark change in the city of Memphis and the world for the better. He says that if he can affect just one person in a positive manner with music, then he is happy. The money and the fame isn't what he aims for. He does this because he loves it and he hopes that he can do it for many years to come. When asked how his music is connected to being in Memphis, he said "I would like to say that Memphis made me. The city, the music, the good and bad aspects of Memphis is what made me who I am today. The soul of the Blues, the entertainment of the Rock is what's inside of me and I hope that it displays in my music. I love Memphis. I just want to represent the city for what it really is."
