"KINGS IN PIECES TNT'S 2-2-08 review"

Saturday night over @ TNT's was proof positive that good old rock & roll is alive and well! After seeing the mass of people assemble inside this eastside rock club, there should be no doubt left as to what is hot today, and that is good ol' Rock & Roll!! What a mad house as this was billed as a free show, if you knew the band, and in a new twist on the "list" was that you had to have a test message sent to you by Dismantle in order to get in for free! Technology at it's finest! Well, starting the night out was a band that we hadn't seen before, nor did we stumble upon them as we have talked about many times before. Instead, we were given a heads up by Mark from MAJ Entertainment about one of his favorites called "Kings In Pieces". Well tally ho, this band got up on stage and from about I'd say the 3rd note we were hooked! An amazing voice was emulating from the stage that was none other than Jimmy "The Knife" Pecor from "One Day At A Time"! Always did like that band and now we see why! Opening the set with I Believe King's In Pieces laid down an awesome set that just made you sit up and listen, Pecor's vocal cutting through the air with one of those vocal synthesizer things! Rolling out 11 songs, King's In Pieces cranked out songs like Fade Away and Wicked Need before slamming it home with Addiction. With Shaun Zisler (guitar), John Larose (bass), and Kyle Mcalpine (drum) rounding out the line-up, Dr2 will be on the look out for these guys again soon, you can to by heading over to our MySpace page where you'll find Kings In Pieces listed in our "Top Friends" list! X equals Y was scheduled to be next, then were listed as no shows, but actually did show up in time to play. Appearing to be "Rap Rock" something or other, X equals Y may have been better off staying home tonight as they literally emptied the place. A real let down after the opening act, Dr2 was a bit disappointed, but with Dismantle looming in the house, you had to stick it out.....

"Review of Kings In Pieces last Michigan show"

Editors note: Went to the Kings In Pieces farewell show last night. They will be moving from Detroit Michigan To Nashville Tennessee. This was their last show in the area for a while I'm sure.

My new GPS served me well. I 75 is being repaired around Detroit and is completely shut down in a couple areas. The detour was insane but the GPS pulled me through it without any real loss in time. Don't know what I did without one and would highly recommend anyone owning one. Mine's the Tom Tom Go version but I'm sure they all work about the same.

The venue was TNT's in Clinton Twp Michigan. First time to the venue and I really like it. Looks on the outside like a renovated hotel. Not much to look at it. Inside though has a really nice set up. Lots of stuff to do as well as two bars. One in the front and one in the rear where the stage is. People were friendly. Surprising amount of hotties. Folks were friendly. Barmaid-waitress were above average. Probably helped they were all wearing corsettes.

The opening bands all put on an exceptional performance including the first band who played mainly cover tunes. I know what you're thinking but these guys sounded like the original artists.

Kings in Pieces hit the stage running. Fan support from family and friends was strong.Talking to people that were hearing them for the first time were impressed also. They played all their favorites and sounded as good as studio recordings.

The finale was emotional for the band as it was for the family as Jimmy finished with an acoustic tune that had a good percent of people teared up. This was Kings In Pieces last show before moving to Nashville Tennessee.

It was great to finally meet the guys in person and see them perform live. No disappointments. Great show and performance. They are really all a bunch of good hearted guys in addition to being musically talented. I have no doubt on their future success.

*Pictures from the show are on THIS page in the Myspace pic section in the Kings In Pieces photo album. Loot them while they are up.

Bio

Unified by vocalist and lead guitarist James Nicholas, rhythm guitarist Shaun Zisler, bassist Johnny LaRose, and percussionist Kyle McAlpine, Kings In Pieces was formed within the outskirts of Detroit, Michigan, in 2007. Until late 2008 Kings In Pieces (K.I.P.) was seen playing many historic venues in Detroit “Rock City.” Solidifying the fact of being one of Michigan’s most respected rock bands, Kings In Pieces received many honors such as the title of Michigan’s 1 unsigned rock band. Spotted on the Detroit scene with such acts as Framing Hanley, Tantric, Sponge, and Limp Bizkit’s Wes Borland, K.I.P. proved to be a high class act. Along with the economic crash of Detroit, the music scene of “The Rock City” was also left in an extreme state of melancholy. The feeling of hitting a glass-ceiling of their hometown overwhelmed the band’s members, influencing them to make a life alternating decision and relocate the band to Nashville, Tennessee.
Upon arrival to “Music City” in late 2008, Kings In Pieces was altruistically welcomed by their new hometown. Quenching the yen of Nashville’s rock scene, K.I.P. was the second most requested band of the area (behind Framing Hanley) in just three months after their arrival. Kings In Pieces also received nominations for “Best New Artist,” “People’s Choice,” and “Band of the Year.” Priding themselves on their critically acclaimed live performances, K.I.P. can be found playing both rocking electric shows and intimate acoustic sets. Currently, the band is recording their new EP “Lies To Abide By” with producers Robert Venable (formally of Evanescence) and Rob Coates. In collaboration the producers have worked with such bands and band members from Creed, Pillar, P.O.D., Kutless, Megadeath, INXS, Disciple, and many more. The EP will include over ten anthems of all original Kings In Pieces material. Each radio-friendly track is layered with relatable lyrics, perfect pitch vocals, moving solos, and a powerful rhythm. Featuring currently released single “Die For Me,” Kings In Pieces’ “Lies To Abide By” is scheduled to be complete in 2010.
