King Spyda Artist Biography

At the premature age of 10 Boston born rapper King Spyda began creating what he considered just expressions that rhyme. He listened to artists like LL Cool J, Run DMC and Busta Rhymes among many others, but also liked groups like Phantom, Lakol, Sweet Mickey and Zin( Haitian Bands) whom he has opened for as a dancer for a folklore group Haitian Kombit.

Deriving from a Haitian background he also learned something involuntarily that became a weapon of choice. He cultured the Haitian Creole language.

Upon going to junior high he also learned that everyone who heard him became believers and soon advocates that it was more than just rhyming words. They referred to him as the rapper not a rapper, rapping at any and every corner, mall, train station, in school and anywhere there were spectators before a high school acquaintance Shannyn introduced him to DJ Reese (Bobby Browns DJ) who then began working closely with him in the studio where New Edition & New Kids On The Block got their big break (Maurice Starrs).

Reese began teaching Spyda the art of ghostwriting; instructing him on to write for others and how to perfect his craft as a now recording rapper!

He has done shows throughout the New England area including every venue that showcases Hip-Hop in Boston including many of the colleges that sanction Hip-Hop opening for artists ranging from Joe Budden, Yung Joc, Mike Jones and Max B to Tanto Metro & Devonte and has been featured on all relevant underground DVDs. He has been mentored closely by Bobby Brown, Peter Parker & Cool Gzus to name a few.

In Spring 2005 he was challenged by over 100 artist ranging from R&B artist to country singers in the annual SIMON MALL DTOUR LIVE COMPETITION hosted by Kiss 108FM (leading station in MA) where he won 1st place in the preliminary at Braintree Mall, MA and then went on to win 1st place at the finals in Attleboro. He was also a featured artist on the Coca Cola Boston Hip-Hop Showcase as well as the AND1 Mixtape Tour.

He has recently worked very closely with Joe Budden (Grammy Nominee) on musical projects for Sullee (VH1s The White Rapper Show). He has been played continuously on Jamn 94.5 (Clear Channel), WERS 88.9 and the former HOT 97.7fm(Wildboy).

His diversity, bilingual perfectionism and variety alone make him extremely marketable and his adaptability to the rap game makes him a chameleon and a trend setter. He is notorious and valued by his peers and supporters. It is no secret to his region that he is an ambassador, a titan and the King of kings. He is best identified in the streets for his contributions on Spotlight DVD - (101 BARS) where he reveals his own citys shady ways, but is also known for his explicit and raunchy bilingual rap and for his 2011 French Creole rap video You Be Killin Em Creole/Zam-HD(Dir: Jay Hunt) which has exploded on youtube with over 3,000 plays in just a couple months as well as his English pop video Potholes-HD(Dir: PitchaSquad) posted late April of this year which is growing huge notoriety for his versatility.

There is no meticulous subject matter to describe his content however he is aiming at a direct audience with comparisons from, Lil Wayne, Eminem, and Jadakiss & to Andre3000.

A safety belt may not be enough but it may be a good idea while riding with King Spyda through his tales of happiness, loyalty, & deceit over the cracked concrete pavements of Boston before having to kick back; pina colada in hand, under palm trees to the satisfying sound of the Caribbean ocean breeze or maybe the booming bass of the club, maybe with dancers!
