And the winner is … King Street Conspiracy. This keyboard-driven, funk-rock band bested four other groups in Birdy’s Battle of the Bands Friday, June 30, winning the opportunity to perform on Friday, Sept. 15. ...........

Birdy’s was packed for this round of the competition, with most bands being bolstered by the support of fans....................... In the end, the audience made King Street Conspiracy the night’s winners. Keyboardist Ben Deater’s intricate playing was the icing on the band’s cake, adding luster to bass player Matt Livengood’s deep grooves. The night’s tightest-sounding band seems to have had a secret weapon, however, in lead singer Jason “Duck” Miller’s mother, Shannon.

“Just call me Mother Duck,” she said. Miller attends each of her son’s performances, and sped from Detroit after finishing a delivery job to get to Indy on time.
“I’m devoted!” she said. “I’m a woman on a mission.” - Nuvo

King Street Conspiracy is a five piece, original rock/funk band that formed in early 2005 around the Indianapolis area. The concept of the band was to blend different styles of music to create our own distinct sound. We have written over 30 original songs which showcase that sound. We also have a list of over 30 cover songs that range from Cyndi Lauper to Jonny Cash to Modest Mouse. We have played several shows in and around Indianapolis, including some of the best venues, such as The Vogue, Birdy’s and The Mousetrap. Our creative songs and “straight to the point shows” have earned us a respectable following around central Indiana. We have been featured in local news magazine Nuvo and were the band of the week on You can hear us on 99.5 WZPL, 103.9 WIMC and 103.3 WRZX in Indianapolis. We can also be heard on Edge 88 in Des Moines Iowa.
