Bio

Kira DeLara was born and raised in a suburb outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on September 9, 1985. Being Filipina, she comes from a very musical background which exposed her to a great deal of musical talent, instrumentalists, and vocalists at a young age. “I have always been influenced by my family’s love for music and that was what gave me the drive to get involved.” Kira was a very shy girl growing up until one day on a trip to Florida with her family, her parents saw the embers of a star while she sang along to Whitney Houston’s, “I Will Always Love You.” Only being 8 years old at the time, Kira’s parents were utterly impressed. After that day, Kira started singing lessons and has been singing ever since. She has known since she sang her first note that she was destined to do something with that effervescent voice. Those who hear her always jest, “I can’t believe such a big voice could come out of such a little girl!” Along with having an explosive voice, Kira also started playing piano at the age of 6. Writing lyrics and ballads became a part of her daily routine growing up. She wrote, recorded and produced her first song, “Not a Fantasy,” at the young age of 15. Due to heavy outside influences and inspiration dancing became another focus for her career, making her abilities broad in scope.

Kira has been exposed to a variety of venues ever since she started her singing career; upon the most notable, she has performed in such venues as Discotheque night club and Suede, two New York hotspots while also having involvement in the New York Film and Music Festival. Local Philadelphia venues include Emerald City Night Club and the Al Albert’s Showcase (where she performed when she was only 12 years old). She has also done charity work for Cancer Benefits to raise money and won various awards for singing in her home town and state.

Kira has worked with a variety of producers which has not only taught her the eclectic singing style that she now exudes, but also has helped her to discover what a true musician’s experience can be in the studio. “I just hope that one day all the hard work will pay off because my dream is to really inspire others through my music.”
