Biography

Born and raised in Hawaii, Kiralei started singing in school, but everyone sings in Hawaii...somehow, all the different voices in seeming dissonance and major key are beautiful together

Beginning with the ukulele and progressing to the guitar in college, Kiralei learned to play music to praise God, which is the real reason she plays and sings. "Though my personal belief is in God, I know that there are many people who don't have that belief. I write some songs from their perspective so that I don't form a box for my music. I like to write what people think in their heads that they have trouble putting into words. My intent is that people learn to see things from other's perspectives so they can get along better...or at least understand why they think that way."

"My musical influences? Well, it's a wide variety from old Alanis Morisette and Cranberries to Caedmons Call and Bethany Dillon, Gloria Gaynor and Diana Ross to Green Day and Five Iron Frenzy, hymns and conservative Christian music...etc...oh and I love Nickle Creek, but I don't think you'll hear that influence, I'm not good enough yet."

Lyrics

Socially Awkward

Written By: Kiralei

I am sporatically ok with not being with you/ I am sportatically longing to hold you/ Why are you socially awkward/ You need to acknowledge that you like me/ Here I am/ No, I haven't left/ I wait here for you/ We've been through all of the signals/ Now it's you're turn/ I won't do this job for you/ Or you'll never learn/ Why are you socially awkward/ You need to acknowledge that you like me/ When you finally speak your mind/ You'll wonder why it took so much time/ I hope you won't think you're too good for me/ Why are you socially awkward/ You need to acknowledge that you like me/ Here I am/ Here's why I haven't left/ I wait for you to show up/ and call me to ask me out/ Won't you tell me that you like me/ Why are you socially awkward/ You just need to call me...
