Bio
Kirsten Salpini hails from Northern Virginia, but she has lived around the world for most of her life. She is pursuing a BFA in Musical Theatre at Shenandoah Conservatory, but plans to pursue her singer/songwriter career upon graduation in 2013. Trained in classical piano, Kirsten started out writing solo piano, which evolved into pop music several years later. Her influences include Norah Jones, Sara Bareilles, Billy Joel, and Ingrid Michaelson, among others. Her emotionally-charged lyrics are the starting point for most of her songs, and the cello adds a unique depth and warmth to an otherwise popular sound. Kirsten has played gigs in the Winchester area, placed in the top 3 at the Battle of the Bands at Shenandoah Conservatory (2011, 2012), and received honorable mention in the John Lennon Scholarship Contest (2011) for her original song "Counting" (found on her myspace page).
