Kirsty Almeida & The Troubadours

 Manchester, England, GBR
BandFolkAcoustic

sounds like music boxes, hot summer evenings, roaring winter fires, swimming at the bottom of a pool on a boiling hot day, crickets, twinkling stars and classic films, a stunning black dress, glitter and the smell of night scented stock. Classic songs delivered direct to the middle of you.

Biography

There isn't a venue I've played that I haven't been booked again and again for. My work is reviewed beautifully by folk who kindly do it because they love it. I truly get a kick out of singing, creating and performing. I'm inflluenced by complaining bus drivers, dancing old ladies, little stick on stars, tea and cake, travelling by accident, perfumes, candles, spoons, teapots, airplane food - the usual.

Old Josie Brown

Written By: Kirsty Almeida

I was only nine or maybe ten,
mama said, 'go be a friend,
for the old, old lady...down the road,
and every thursday after school
I'd buy her tipple of alcohol
for the old, old lady...down the road.

I'd have to knock a special knock,
so's not to give old joze a shock
and she'd peek at me,
through the letter hole.
She'd say, "My , how you've grown. The week must've flown."
Dear old Josie Brown.

So I'd go in and play the piano
the dust would fly
from the musty hammers
the keys were as yellow
as her tooth
and we'd dance
around the livingroom
where colour came to paint the gloom and she'd smile
at the reflection of her youth.

We'd dream the star I'd be one day, the concert halls, the shows I'd play and she'd wave at the princes
waiting there.
She'd say, "You'll have a ball.
You'll have it all.
Dear old Josie Brown.

But then one day, just after four,
I knocked the knock on Josie's door but the echo filled my heart
with childish fear.
I broke the window,
squeezed right in,
climbed the tower of ivory gin
to the old, old lady...lying there.
I shook her once, I shook her twice, called her name, hands of ice
but my friend Josie, didn't stir.
They said old Josie's gone,
but for this song.
Dear old Josie Brown.

...now look how I've grown,
the years sure have flown,
Dear Old Josie Brown x

Wrong Mister Right

Written By: Kirsty Almeida

Drenched with thoughts of you in April showers,
Warm in awe of you, sweet July
We la la la la la'd around for hours
and I saw the tones of you in autumn skies
and you, and you, and you, warmed winter's chills
and you came close to making me all yours
then snows came in and brought with them your thrills and spring came in and brought your kissing cures

but you're the wrong, mister right
hold me close hold me tight
you're the wrong mister right, hold me close hold me tight

So deep how you got through to me, philosopher
a fool for you the funny man I fell
You threw the world in front of me adventurer and troubadour the stories you could tell

But you're the wrong mister right
hold me close
hold me tight
you're the wrong mister right hold me close hold me tight
you're the wrong mister right keep it simple keep it light

If YOu Can't Make Me

Written By: Kirsty Almeida / John Ellis

If You Can’t Make Me Happy

If you can’t make me happy
Gonna get me another man
If you can’t make me happy
Going to find me one who can

See, I’ve got my cuts and bruises
Gonna walk away the blame
And if you can’t make me happy
Gonna walk away again

Why can’t you see what we’re doing to me?
Why won’t you go?
Leave me walking alone
Why won’t you go?

If you can’t make me happy
Gonna walk away the shame
If you can’t make me happy
Gonna walk away the pain

Why won’t you see what we’re doing to me?
Why won’t you go?
Leave me walking alone
Why won’t you go?

I saw a world in you
I found a world for two
That showed me all of who I am
Time and again, and again
You leave me walking alone
It’s always the same, it’s the same
Somehow kisses show
Won’t you go?

If you can’t make me happy
Gonna walk away the blame
Cause I’m tired of cuts and bruises
Gonna walk away again
If you can’t make me happy
Gonna leave the way I came

Cool Down Rewind

Cool Down Rewind

Well, I wonder just what might have been
Had I said “yes” to more than friends
Would the world seem quite as cold as it does right now?
Would the emptiness I was feeling then
Slip away with saying “yes” back when?
Would colour come and paint my life somehow?

Cool down rewind
Spend a little time
I could make you laugh
You could make it rhyme
We could watch the sun go up, go down, go up, though time
Cool down rewind
Watch a flower grow
Make it all go slow
Just watch every moment as each moment blows
Cool down

If I tell you what I’m thinking now
Could we just rewind the world somehow
‘Cause my heart just won war against my head
Kinda feels like you’re so right, right now
Just walk and talk and breathe it out
Let a world of colour flood back in.

Cool down rewind
Spend a little time
I could make you laugh
You could make it rhyme
We could watch the sun go up, go down, go up, though time
Cool down rewind
Watch a flower grow
Make it all go slow
Just watch every moment as each moment blows
Cool down
