Bio

Kiss The Anus Of A Black Cat is the brainchild of Belgian Stef Heeren, who took on a study of musical instrument building at the Conservatory in Ghent and concentrated on European folk instruments. It was around this time that serious seeds for the music of KTAOABC were sown and shortly after Stef was given a musical platform resulting in the debutalbum “If the sky falls we shall catch larks” on the adventurous Kraak label from Ghent. (2005)

In 2007 Kraak released the follow up “An interlude to the outermost”, an album that broadened the band’s sound adding drums, bass, electric guitars and a small choir to the more ethnical stringed instruments creating a more anchored folk rock album.

KTAOABC’s output increased with their third record ‘The Nebulous Dreams’ on Conspiracy Records in 2008. Carrying only three songs, this shorter album was captivated as an intermezzo towards the next full length and as the ingredients remained the same, this record is the most inaccessible of KTAOABC’s output.

4th October will see the release of the 4th album by Kiss The Anus Of A Black Cat titled “Hewers of wood and Drawers of water” on Zealrecords. The title refers to ‘Joshua 9:23’ and translates as woodcutters and water carriers. This record has been over a year in the making and for the first time in the band’s history has been recorded in a proper studio. Whereas previous albums were rather a mixture of song sketches and soundscapes, the new album will contain nine, psychedelically driven, proper folksongs. It has been produced by Koen Gisen at his studio ‘La Patrie’ and features backing vocals by An Pierlé.
