Bio
After his debut solo show at the University of Alberta, Kenya was invited back to do a performance for the University's International Week. "I didn't feel that ready to do the show by myself so I got in touch with a few musicians I had jammed with to see if they were up for it. After the first couple of sessions, we felt really good playing together that we decided to form the band." Formed in January 2004 with the aim of only doing one show, Kitchen's Passport is taking its first steps performing in Edmonton. Composed of students, the band tries to squeeze in time between classes, work and exams to write new material and jam.
Influenced by U2, The Dave Matthews Band, the Goo Goo Dolls, Matchbox Twenty. Whitney Houston, Boyz II men and Brian Mcknight as well as Motown, Kenya's music is hard to pin down but he does get the crowds going.
"We still are not quite sure where we would place oursleves in the music genres as we all come from different musical backgrounds and influences. We just like to groove." said Kenya when asked about the band's identity.
The members of Kitchen's Passport are: Kenya Kondo-singer/songwriter, guitar Gabe Donnelley-vocals Tim Smith-Violin Paul Chernik-Keyboard Ryan Stewart-guitar Dan Yeung-cello Jesse Whitehead- Drums and percussion
