Kitty Plague started in april of 2011, when john & mark met stephen @ the skybox open mic night in clairemont.
Mark was looking for a new band to play the songs he wrote in the canton mudders, John was looking to play his harry the hippo songs and Stephen was just back from living over in europe and was looking for a band to rock in. After a few jam sessions & a nirvana covers party, they decided on the name kitty plague since 7 kittens were born in Mark's backyard.
With influences such as nirvana, radiohead, janes addiction, ramones, BRMC, pixies, dinosaur jr, JAMC, sonic youth, smashing pumpkins, red hot chili peppers, the clash, weezer, the smiths, adorable, wax, dramarama, blink 182, rem, swerevedriver, modern english, the cure, flight of the conchords, south park...kitty plague has a sound that makes you wanna get up and dance and rock out to. And with John and Mark switching up on the writing and the guitar/bass playing, it gives Kitty Plague a more diverse sound to their music. Plus with them throwing in different covers in their sets, their live shows are rockin!
They are currently working on new material & more covers & finishing up a demo cd, with a full length studio cd coming in the future...
