I Can't Stop My Dreams (From Loving You)

I Can’t Stop My Dreams (From Loving You)

Every night when I lie down I see you there beside me
You softly kiss my cheek and hold me tight.
I think about how I love just being with you
And of the life I hope to have with you someday.
Then the sun comes shining through the open window
And I awake to see I’m alone just like before.
The tears fall down my face as I think of the time and place
You said, “I’m sorry. I don’t love you anymore.”

CHORUS:
I can’t stop my dreams from loving you
They don’t want to let you go.
I’ve tried to tell them that it’s over
But there’s no way for them to know
That the love we shared has drifted away.
It’s been replaced with nothing but pain.
I can’t stop my dreams from loving you
They listen to my heart not what I say.

Every time I hear our song playing on the radio
My thoughts quickly turn to you and me.
I see you there singing the words so softly
And I long for the way things used to be.
When I could feel your arms wrapped so tight around me
As we swayed to the song’s sweet melody.
As the last notes begin to play my thoughts of you fade away
And I realize I’m dancing all alone.

CHORUS

I see the two of us walking hand in hand.
You turn to me slip something on my hand.
You get down on one knee then I come to reality
And see it’s just my mind tricking me again.

CHORUS

Old Times

Written By: Karey Johnson

Old Times

I wonder what happened to the olden days
When we had simpler lives and we lived with simpler ways
Didn’t worry about money or fame.
When Mama and Daddy worked side by side
To put food on the table and to raise their kids right
And they taught their children to do the same.

CHORUS:
We can’t let old times be forgotten
Can’t spend our lives always wanting
Something that we’ll never need
It’s sad to think our kids might never know
How things were in the days of old
Well, I guess, it’s up to you and me…

To tell ‘em about apple pie and Mama’s fried chicken
When we sang Amazing Grace everybody listened
To the words that would save our souls.
Tell ‘em about the times that I remember
When the family’d gather ‘round the fire’s embers
Hear Grandpa talk about days of old.

CHORUS

What happened to the times that I could spend
Every night out walking with my best friend
And not have to worry ‘bout him or me.
Will my kids ever get to catch lightning bugs?
Have a mom and a dad and get enough hugs
And not have to worry about living on the streets?

CHORUS

Yes, it’s up to you and me.

One Hot Night of Passion

Written By: Karey Johnson

One Hot Night of Passion

I guess you felt there was something there
From that one night we spent
All night in the motel room
But I wish we had never met.
I thought you’d get the picture
When you woke up all alone.
Saw the note that said, “I’ll see you ‘round”
Next to the telephone.

CHORUS:
It was one hot night of passion
But now you’re wanting something more.
I was laughing at the thought of that
As I walked out the door.
Now every time you see me
You’re begging on your hands and knees
But that one hot night of passion
Is all you’re gonna get from me.

Just a few weeks later I was at the county fair
I was looking down the midway
When I saw you standing there.
You started to come over
But I knew just what you’d say.
As you got closer I just turned and walked away.

CHORUS

Early the next morning there was a knock at my door.
It was the local florist
And my mouth dropped to the floor.
Two dozen roses and a note from you know who.
He said, “Would you please respect me
And my love for you?”

(Spoken) Love? Can’t this guy take a hint?

It was one hot night of passion
But now you’re wanting something more.
I was laughing at the thought of that
As I walked out the door.
Now every time you see me
You’re begging on your hands and knees
But that one hot night of passion
Is all you’re gonna get from me.
Because that one hot night of passion
Is all I wanted it to be.
