Bio

Born Kenneth Coulter Jr. on June 20th in Fort Worth, Texas,
K-Jay started a strenuous journey that would lead him to being recognized as one of music’s most notable up and coming artists.
His infatuation with music started in high school when he began to write poetry and sell poems to fellow students. His peers encouraged him to begin rapping and he started honing his skills around the age of 17. Being musically involved as a drummer in his church and also a saxophonist in his high school band, his musical interests grew stronger. Influenced by all kinds of music from Jazz to Gospel, he became infatuated with Hip Hop & studied records by Scarface, U.G.K., Outkast, Bone Thugs, The Late Greats Biggie & Tupac, Jay-Z, & Snoop Doggy Dog, as well as many other hip-hop and R&B artists. If provided a chance to work with any one artist
he would work with Stevie Wonder, mainly because of the musical impact that Stevie has had on musicians world wide. Aside from Stevie, others responsible for K-Jay’s influences are Russell Simmons, L.L. Cool J, and Sean P. Diddy Combs.
After Graduating High School, K-Jay worked with several local artists and production companies before a mutual friend introduced him to Nick Berry, C.E.O. of Beatnick Entertainment who recognized K-Jay’s talent and began working with him on his debut album “Destined For Greatness”.
K-Jay’s goal is to bring good music back to the people and help push the examples of good music set forth by artists like Kanye West, Outkast, and Jay-Z. By doing so, K-Jay plans to bring attention to the Fort Worth Area, which is largely overlooked by the hip-hop community. In part, he will to lead a movement that puts Fort Worth Rap Music on the map and eventually run his own label and follow in the footsteps of one of his major influences… Russell Simmons. Thus proving that he truly is “Destined for Greatness”.
