Klerkx & the Secret – Undertones
With 'Undertones' Klerkx & the Secret crawl underneath the skin of our consciousness. With explicit lyrics about death, love and loss dreams come alive. With minimal, pure accompaniment Klerkx is seeking the essence. Recounting his thoughts, fears and expectations, letting his feelings speak without losing sight of Klerkx & the Secrets' identity: sincere, outspoken, versatile and melodic.

Klerkx wears his heart on his sleeve, being outspoken in his subjects and lyrics. Emphasized by the dark and rudimentary piano driven accompaniment, creating an atmosphere that's up close and personal. On piano is Bart Wolvekamp, a talented musician with a unique feeling for composition, arrangement and tone. No matter how peaceful the sleep, when one is dealing with unknown fears and dreams, they come with heavy emotions. Which are given a voice by psychedelic outburst, vocal and rhythmic dynamics. As a whole the album breathes melody and serenity without preaching a better world. Klerkx & the Secret provide food for thought, especially when their music and topics are hitting close to the listeners homes and hearts. There's also room to enjoy some familiarity with the sole cover on the album ' Save a Prayer', originally recorded by Duran Duran.

'Undertones' presents Klerkx & the Secret's vulnerable and solitary side after their more psychedelic and band driven debut 'Unleash' on which guitarists Jelle Paulusma, Jaromir Fernig and Theo Sieben made a large and versatile contribution to. Live 'Undertones' will be performed with Bart Wolvekamp on piano joined by 'the Secret' as the set progresses.

At the center there's Rob Klerkx, known for being the drummer of 'Moke', who is now setting the bar as a songwriter. His writing style is up front and honest, the story lines are gripping and recognisable. His passion for sports (especially cycling) shines through in lyrics on focus, reaching ones goals, gains and losses and self-exploration. All these elements make "Undertones'
a great fall classic.

'Undertones' is to be released on Friday January 28th 2011 through [PIAS].
The album will be showcased on February 1st 2011 at the Paradiso, Amsterdam.
The albums first single 'people' will debut on November 19th 2010.
