"Ain't no fools"

Portland’s Klickitat features Sean DeGregorio on guitar, Alan Krassowski on bass, Rhonda Piasecki on drums and Josh Lava on keyboard. The group just released its live album, “Year of the Tiger,” and combines the jamminess of the Grateful Dead, the funkiness of Tower of Power and the tastiness of Pat Metheny for an appealing stew of jazz, rock and fusion. They’re made more for a summer outdoor festival than an indoor bar gig, but given how little sunshine we’ve had as of late, it’s probably not a bad idea to disco down and check out the show.

Klickitat, 9 p.m. Friday, April 1, Twilight Room, 5242 N. Lombard St. Free. Info: 503-283-5091, myspace.com/thetwilightroom - Portland Tribune

"Admirable Jazz"

Here's to Klickitat for producing the least pretentious synthesis of jazz and rock in recent memory. Named after the well-loved Portland thoroughfare, Klickitat is a jazz quartet whose chief virtue is the meandering guitar work of Sean DeGregorio. It's DeGregorio's restraint in his almost constant soloing that makes the group's debut recording, Live in Portland, OR, 2010, an appreciable example of a band jamming, rather that another grating example of a jam band. - Willamette Weekly

Bio

Klickitat is an instrumental quartet from Portland, OR, that Willamette Week calls, “the least pretentious synthesis of jazz and rock in recent memory.” The band has quickly risen in the Pacific Northwest on the reaction to their outstanding self-released debut Live in Portland, OR | 2010. Not a band to sit still, Klickitat is back with a brand new live album entitled Year of the Tiger. Showcasing the band's experimental nature and highly improvisational playing, the album was recorded 100% live during the second half of 2010 and early 2011.

Klickitat continues to extend their reach across the west coast and throughout the Pacific Northwest with blistering live shows. And now with the release of Year of the Tiger, and a studio album soon to come, 2011 promises to be a breakout year for Klickitat.
