Bio

Since the summer of 1995 Andy Klier has maintained a steady deluge of musical activity in Austin, Texas. Music school at The University of Texas in Austin almost completely smothered any love he had for the art form with its deadlines and structure, but while in school he combated the pedagogy through the writing and recording of his own music. By the time Andy graduated from UT he had recorded 3 albums worth of songs he affectionately dubbed "The Benelva Studies." These albums, however, were never released. In 2003 he began playing keyboards and writing songs for Things That Go Pop. During this time he was also occasionally playing trombone for Halley, a renowned Austin band, as well as writing songs on his own. While he consistently and fervently played music with others he did not perform solo until January of 2005. With intense life trauma that occurred during 2004-2005 Andy found a renewed dedication to music. After being fired from a tech job, which he hated, for failing a random drug test, he found himself with the fortunate opportunity to become a full time musician. Less than a week after being unemployed he wrote and recorded the EP "songs for a lap steel" and began using the moniker "Klier Channel." In the summer of 2005 he brought together a number of musicians with whom he had played with throughout the years and organized a tribute performance to Willie Nelson. Together they learned and performed Willie’s 1975 release "Red Headed Stranger" in its entirety. Shortly following this Andy was struck with an inspiration that caused a format change and “singer/song-writer” became the “one-man-band” that it is today. Klier Channel is currently recording a full length album which is set to release sometime in early March.
