The best kept secret in music

"L.A. Weekly"

Highly Recommended! - L.A. Weekly

"Daytona Magazine"

"These are the hardest working doctors of rock. We can't wait to see them play again!" - M. Tukada

"Glue Magazine"

These sonic scientists have mixed soaring melodies, funky drums and bass, and scorching guitar solos into a pop sound more exciting than the super-string theory. A knack for writing positively charged, catchy tunes and lyrics about relationships and personal stories, KJR proves that a band doesn't have to look or sound hardcore to make a big noise. - Joe Sorrentino

Bandwidth (1998)
State of Matter (2002)

Feeling a bit camera shy

When rock n' roll and science collide, the explosion is Knee Jerk Reaction. KJR brings their brand of sonic experimentation to the stage with a hybrid of Foo Fighters power pop, Lenny Kravitz funk rock, some Beck retro-soul sampling and a dose of Devo electro-groove.

Building on successes with their first record, "Bandwidth," KJR has taken the proverbial quantum leap forward with their new mixed media release, "State of Matter." KJR draws poetic symbolism from planetary motion, superstring theory, chemistry, particle physics, mathematics etc; and combine hooky rock songs with inventive lyrics. Their successes include a hit pick for their film "Besides the Music" on, a top 10 video on, a touring schedule incuding both coasts, CMJ, NEMO, 2NMC, as well as TV and radio interviews as far away as Japan.

"State of Matter" has allowed KJR to become the only band of its kind: a concept group that puts great rock music first, while lyrically developing familiar topics in a new and ingenious way resulting in a show stopping sonic science experiment that stimulates all your senses.
