Knees

Knees formed at 2000 trees festival in the summer of 2012, made up of friends who saw the weekend as a kick up the backside to start producing music the way they want to.

Inspired by some great acts of the weekend such as Tall Ships, Tellison, 65daysofstatic and Hundred Reasons we decided we really could make our own contribution to the rebirth of great British guitar music. The bands sound shows this and more, incorporating dancey bass lines, epic guitar sounds, soulful keys and big drumming. Its the harmonies and vocals which try to bridge the gap between that epic post rock sound and the catchy indie music which we feel has never been done effectively before.

The band grew up listening to great bands such as Brand New, Taking Back Sunday, Radiohead, Foals, Deftones and many more. This is the foundation of their friendship and the bands sound. This is why we feel there is some really great bands in Britain at the moment as we all grew up listening to some of the same stuff and it shows.

Knees have had some very flattering radio coverage on local radio and have been played and interviewed on BBC Introducing where they were touted as ones to watch for 2013. The feedback for this has been excellent as it has for our first release which was a self recorded E.P called The Learning To Swim E.P. All the physical hand made copies have subsequently sold out and the digital copy (which was free has) has been downloaded over 500 times.

The band are currently in the process of remastering the E.P in a studio to re-release in physical format again whilst also recording a new single set for release by March 2013.

The few gigs they have had in this short amount of time have all been very succesful, filling venues and getting great response from fans and journalists alike.
