Knightingale

Knightingale is a garage rock band formed by Ashwin Rao, and Deon Chan with the very goal of playing garage rock music to the masses. Their fuzz driven guitar sound with a lack of bass guitar adds a certain raw and honest uniqueness about their approach to songwriting and performance. They are inspired by bands such as The Hives, DZ Deathrays, Nirvana, Ty Segall, Bass Drum of Death and embrace a DIY (Do it Yourself) attitude towards their music be it from production to marketing to touring. Khairil Khai joined the band mid-2016 after guitarist Faiz Latif left the band.

Formed in late 2013 early 2014 Knightingale had its first songbird tune with "One" after the first ever practice session that songwriters Ashwin Rao and Deon Chan had in a scrawny small garage room in the most expensive city in the world, Singapore. Instead of focusing on the typical "audition" or "Show me your skills by playing math rock etc" the duo decided to fork out what they fit best. Raw punk, dirty in your face rock and roll. With passionate melodies, thundering drums, 4 power chord spam and a whole lot of “Wooos" the band somehow found its sound, but to be honest it was nonetheless a rip off of Mississippi's Bass Drum of Death.

The current lineup consists of Ashwin Rao on Guitars/Bass/Vocals, Ben Ho on Lead Guitars and Rajiv Singh on Drums.

They play intense garage rock inspired by energetic and raw power of the 90's underground garage/ grunge bands like Nirvana to the 60's compilation album called "Back from the Grave" and the 2014's era of Ty Segall and Bass Drum of Death. We write stuff that are catchy, simple and as short as possible and play it with all our might to recreate our form of rock
