As a Songwriter and performing artist I dwell within the music genres of R&B, Pop, Jazz, Christian Contemporary, and Gospel. I cherish the many influences of such heritage artists as Ramsey Lewis, John Coltrane, Etta James, Jimmy Witherspoon, George Benson, Peter Gabriel, Michael McDonald, Michael Franks, Al Cooper, Gary McFarland, and contemporaries, Michael W. Smith, Steven Curtis Chapman, Kirk Franklin, & many, many more.
I enjoy writing innovative instrumental tracks, while I am also exploring the crossover genre of Jazz/Gospel, hoping to create a bridge into the Contemporary Christian/Gospel music market.
Growing up in Los Angeles California, I have been a Singer/Songwriter, keyboard player for most of my life. (I took time off for marriage to the most wonderful woman ever, Linda, and to raise my family.)
Early in my career I performed as lead singer for the DJ Lynne Band and the Rags Waldorf Band under management of Lee Magid (Lee Magid Management, Inc.) I was blessed by having been mentored by Herb Cohen (at the time, Verve Records), having shared the stage with such artists as Jerry Lee Lewis, Spanky (and Our Gang), Peter Yarrow, Jimmy Witherspoon, Etta James, Ernie Andrews, Captain Beefheart, Alice Cooper, Frank Zappa, and comedian, Roberta Kent.
I've had the privilege of making multiple recordings with one of LA's finest engineers/producers, Craig Burbidge of Aire LA Studios. Craig has recorded Natalie Cole, Take 6, Teddy Pendergrass, Vanessa Williams, and hundreds of others. Also engineered the best Gospel Album for 1996, Kirk Franklin and The Family "Whatcha Lookin 4". ( Craig just so happens to be my best friend, and praises aside, he really is phenomenal!)
Currently I'm writing/producing my own work, as I organize and prepare for performing opportunities in 2009.
