Knuckles McGee

Knuckles McGee’s journey began at an early age in Cookeville, TN. His first introduction to music came from his father, a well known guitarist within the community. Despite adverse and humble conditions growing up, he began to channel his frustrations through music. He started making his own music at age 8, honing his singing and guitar talents performing in rock bands, winning the Battle of the Bands competition in high school, and several rap battles. Knuckles has always had an outside the box philosophy, an inner struggle and distrust of authority, which has led to many run ins with the law. However, his clear passion for the spotlight, a martial arts discipline, and an internal angst and anger against injustices he’s witnessed led him to bring out Knuckles McGee, which represents to him the conflict within.
His main musical influences are rock and roll, hip hop, rap, blues, reggae and metal. He draws his inspiration from artists like Rage Against the Machine, Bob Dylan, Bob Marley and emcee’s such as Big L, Eminem and Method Man. McGee describes his music as a testimonial to his life and the things he’s seen. It has an alternative hip hop type sound that showcases his influences. McGee has opened for acts such as Nappy Roots, Haystack, and Lacrea. Over the years he’s won countless rap battles, performed in front of tens of thousands and been featured on many mixtapes, releasing a couple of his own. He has an album coming out in the Summer of 2011.
