Knyce

Kiarra "Knyce" Green, born January 1, 1993 (New Year baby) in Dallas, Texas is a young female rapper coming out of the KBS Pearl Entertainment camp. Knyce has a strong dedication to music—everything from R&B and Hip Hop, to Pop and Neo-Soul. Knyce says, "I love it all, but rap is where my talent is! I write many of my songs, including my first song “Paper So Thick,� which debuted on The BE Heard Show on BlogTalk Radio, “Good Girl� featuring BTeezee and Fredarro, and my single in the making 'What U Gon' Do.'" That debut on The BE Heard Show helped Knyce realize that what she has been dreaming of doing could actually come true.

Knyce has been writing poetry since the third grade when her English teacher told her mother that she knew that Knyce was going to be a writer because of the stories and poetry she loved to write even then. Today, Knyce is a junior in high school in Atlanta, GA, pursuing a career in rap, continues to write to strengthen her flow, and still maintains a 3.215 GPA, while taking AP classes.

Besides her Christian upbringing, which Knyce says she has taken with her throughout life, one of her biggest inspirations is her mother who has shown her strength through her own struggles. Her mother’s determination taught Knyce to never give up no matter how bad life seems because God will provide.

Knyce’s music career began two years ago when she was motivated to pursue a music career as a rapper because of the industry’s need for female rappers. Knyce is inspired by the good messages the female pioneers have contributed, and wants to be a part of making sure that the female voice in rap does not become extinct, forgotten, or dissolve into the industry.

Knyce wants to celebrate the achievements of the pioneers and bring similar, positive messages with a modern spin on them, which she believes are important to get everyone to listen through a new movement—Females Taking Back Hip Hop. Knyce feels that artists such as MC Lyte, Queen Latifah, Da Brat, and Missy Elliott, as well as her label mates, are an inspiration to what she does. Females Taking Back Hip Hop strives to change the way females are looked at in the industry. Through example as an emcee who will earn her keep, Knyce will show the dominantly-male world of the music industry that she does not have to degrade herself to make it or do anything immoral to be recognized as the HOTT emcee that she is.

Besides bringing new music with positive messages through storytelling onto the scene, Knyce’s contribution to this movement is the creation of her own pledge to Hip Hop. Knyce would like every artist to abide by this pledge, take it with them, and live by it to make Hip Hop what it used to be.

Knyce pledges “to respect the ones before me as well as myself, to be dedicated to my craft, and to truly represent no matter where I am or what I am doing.�

Knyce’s influences also include artists such as T.I., Ace Hood, and Lil Wayne. "Mainstream or independent, it doesn't matter to me. In my eyes they all have talent," she expresses. Knyce is looking to all of the artists who have come before her and those she has met in the KBS Pearl family to guide her in the right direction.
