PROFILE
Kobya and his brilliant ,multi-talented, 4 piece reggae band, have collaborated on the new album "Professional Fool".The music is about unity, devine love, justice and politrix, whilst celebrating life. Although reggae is Kobya's first love, he has contributed to bringing his cultural background of traditional roots, rhythm and sound to Australia through performances & workshops.
The band has also played most well known venues in South Africa and has shared the stage with international Reggae superstars Burning Spear, Culture, Mutabaruka, The Waiters, Buju Banton, Benjamin Zepheniah and Macka B.
Kobya has written numerous singles and albums in several languages including Arishene literally means "greeting", Son go to School, Woman, Vaka Hina and In the Arms of a Tree, dedicated to a child born in a tree whilst awaiting rescue during the Mozambique floods in 2000. Later albums are 'No-one I Know, a powerful punchy mix of original contemporary songs and `Anthology 7', a blend of music ranging from afro roots to classical, released in 2006. Traditional album Nyonxani was released in 2007 and is a collaboration of Ronga tribal music with Aboriginal and Middle Eastern sounds. His most recent CD release is Uxongili, released in 2008, is an eclectic mix of songs about love, loss and injustice. He has also written and released an upbeat mix single 'Swollen Generation' a song about the obesity situation today, questioning those crying to lose weight through eating too much food and those crying through lack of food and starvation.

He's been featured on ABC documentaries & national radio, Channel Ts Outback Adventure documentaries, Becker Productions for CNN TV, performed live solo concerts in schools, universities and radio stations in Africa Australia Europe Asia and the USA. His past experience working with bands lead singer and as Solo artist includes, Roots Rock Reggae and Choir and cabaret, Outhouse, the Irie Bunch plus other well known bands. Kobya has appeared at the Continental Cafe the Palais Theatre, Gil Vicent Theatre Maputo Mozambique, Netherland's Woodstock Beach Festival and Vondel Park, in America at Johnny Lee Hooker's nightclub, Inanne Club in France, Melbourne International Festivals, Melbourne Concert Hall, Moomba, Bring Them Home Concert, Colonial Stadium for Lion King Productions and the Melbourne Commonwealth Games. Kobya has supported international artists including Angelique Kidjo, Steel Pulse, Lucky Dube, Jimmy Cliff and Ko-Nimo amongst other high profile artists.
