My show will grasp you. It is impossible to leave without wanting more”. So this is why you have to check out his performance at the Apollo theater in Harlem on September 2nd @ 7:30pm. Bio
There’s a storm brewing in Staten Island, New York. Kofi Black -- R & B, Pop, Reggae, Hip-hop, and Soul tossed into a blender and turned on high. With music in his blood, Kofi Black mixes his West African roots, with his S.I. swagger. On July 22, 1983 a successful businessman, musician from Ghana, West Africa and a God fearing woman from Brooklyn brought a legend into the world. Kofi Black the multi-talented singer, songwriter, rapper, producer cranks out the "break ya neck" cause you're boppin your head so hard music. He sings seductive notes that make you say "How did he do that?". The type of music that makes you use the left side of your brain. Kofi combines fun, efficiency, charm, passion and excitement to an audience. Some would argue he is a perfectionist, but for Kofi the Renaissance man, there is no other modus operandi for his craft. He lives by the intro to his album "All I do is win".
In 2003 Kofi went to Ghana, West Africa to perform for Independence Day in front of thousands. In 2005 he sang at the BET awards a tribute to Mariah Carey. That same year he sang the national anthem at Yankee Stadium. December of 2008 Kofi traveled to South Korea to sing in front 10's of thousands of people. Vocally trained by one of the prolific vocal coaches of this time Craig Derry who's trained everyone from Mary J. Blige, Christina Aguilerra, Alicia Keys, John Legend to Pretty Ricky. (About Kofi: "One of the most beautiful voices I've ever heard. His gift is evident. He writes and sings stuff that is undeniable. And when you hear him you will agree. He's definitely a great!"- Craig Derry) Kofi receives standing ovations at his shows when he sings his original hits "Mojo", "I could kill cupid" and the heart felt, tear jerker "Daddy's little girl". Ultimately, it's Kofi Black's live show that generates the most enthusiastic reviews. "Kofi gives a kick ass show.."- Fan. Armed with a microphone and a star stuttered band. Dynamic duo brothers Jamal and Larry Peoples on keys and drums, Anthony on bass and the world famous Faton Macula on guitar who's played for everyone from Mark Anthony to Fantasia.
In October 2009, Kofi released a highly anticipated R&B mixture titled "Friday Night". This mixture has the streets buzzing' big time about the talented singer. He's also writing and producing for up and coming artists and major artists as well. Kofi wrote and co produced Keith Robinson from the movie "Dream Girls" first single "Gurl". Kofi Black went on an overseas tour at the end of 2009. As of right now you can catch him doing shows and singing at open mic sessions throughout New York City. His first single "Superman" has been released June 2010. You can download this song on iTunes - search Kofi Black.
