"Whats So Good?"

I’m always and forever a lover of R&B and soul, so when I found Kojo “Easy” Damptey in my inbox, I was immediately taken with what I heard.

“Chasing The Felon” is a politically and morally charged track that’s fully loaded with slick instrumentals and smooth vocals. The jazzy rhythm bodes will with the slithering bass and soulful horns, and the keys add a twinkling tone to this intelligent R&B song. From start to finish, “Chasing The Felon” tells a story while enveloping the listener musically and philosophically. - Christiana Bartolini

"Kojo is a man with a message"

Kojo is a man with a message. I appreciate an artist who wears honesty on his sleeve and who sounds like he makes music because sometimes we just hurt. THE EP, which focuses on the social narrative of an African immigrant living in North America, is an off the beaten path approach to some heavy subject matter. Illusion has touches of reggae, R&B, and soul, and a dreamy synth organ that’s smooth as hell. - Alan Cross

"The Anti-Hit List for April 21"

KOJO ‘EASY’ DAMPTEY

“Illusion”

It is a credit to this Hamilton-by-way-of-Ghana artist that this track can evoke so many disparate reference points yet emerge as a thoroughly distinctive piece of music. Among the glimmers of familiarity are conscious or subconscious nods to the Stones’ “Gimme Shelter,” Donald Fagen’s “I.G.Y.” and Peter Gabriel’s “In Your Eyes,” not to mention ghostly vocals that sound like the product of blissful hours spent obsessing over Marvin Gaye’s “What’s Going On.” (From The EP) - John Sakamoto
