Bio

Koko Blue is the new project of Koko Bonaparte (Interstllr) and Evan Gordon (Islands, The Magic).

Performing as a rock duo, they play vintage electric guitars in tandem, and Koko sings original compositions about the far north, lakes and the eastern sea, strange weather, night walking, clubbing too much, drinking & drugs, love of family, and enduring friendship.

Koko and Evan grew up together in the golden age of indie and punk rock in Guelph, Canada. Both have played in touring rock and electro bands. This duo project is about minimalist production and stripped down, open live performance.

Koko Blue's history is about skipping school to write songs, playing shows in church basements and impromptu spaces, 4-track recording, and paying homage to anti-heroes like Will Oldham, Sebadoh, and Lou Reed.

“These songs were not originally written to be recorded. I wrote them to help understand hard things, and I sang them to myself and to close friends. Some are love letters I needed to write, but never thought I'd send.” - KB

"Crosses and Planks" - the debut LP - will be released in June 2013.

Their first tour was Dec 2012, across Ontario. In early 2013 they are playing shows in New York City, where Koko lives right now. The album release will have them touring May/June 2013 across Eastern Canada and New England.
