Koko Bonaparte

BandHip HopEDM

Koko is a young emcee of many moods and many dance moves. The beats are so heavy and rich that the lyrics hardly matter. However, Koko has been mentored by some of America's master poets, whom it would be too pretentious to name. Think Mos Def meets Neko Case.

Biography

Koko was born and raised in Guelph, Ontario, Canada, where something strange is in the water. Guelph has produced a host of Canada's most successful musicians. "Downtown after school all we did was loiter and talk about music. All my boyfriends and girlfriends walked around with walkmans in their hands and big headphones on." Koko's earliest hip hop influences included Method Man's Tical, Enter the Wu, Fugee's The Score, and everything Tribe Called Quest. "Now I listen to unusual underground hip hop. But I dance to commercial hip hop in the clubs. At the end of the day, my own music combines both these things." Her brand new CD, untitled as of yet, was recorded with a dream band.
