Bio
Intelligent, magnetic and smooth only begin to describe the experience of Komplex on stage. Most often compared to Common, or Mos Def, Kom is a writer among writers, from the dimension of hip-hop where real lyricists lounge. A multi-faceted artist he is the consummate professional. His humor, warmth and professionalism as a host will embrace any crowd. As a Spoken Word artist his voice alone is a tool of engagement, add to that a gripping delivery, clever concepts and quality writing– he is a poet among poets. Just as naturally, he is a Hip-Hop artist, (NOT A RAPPER!) with intelligent lyrics, Komplex wordplay and a good vibe.
Over the last five years, Kom has performed internationally as an invited guest to the international poetry concert “When Brothers Speak” in Ontario Canada and has shared mics with some cool contemporaries ie: Floetry, Saul Williams, Regina Belle, Dwele and many others. He currently tours the U.S. college circuit and has performed at over 150 colleges nationwide. As founder and CEO of Love, Peace and Poetry INKoperated (LPandP) he manages his own career and promotes and hosts regular events in Baltimore and Washington DC.
A hustler by nature Kom wears many hats in addition to the 3 on stage. He is also an actor having had speaking roles on HBO's The WIRE and key roles in independent films and plays as well as a soap opera airing on www.BlackTVonline.com. As an entrepreneur he has developed LPandP into a profitable and reputable business in a very short time. Despite a saturated agenda, Kom makes time to serve his youth via motivational speaking and educational workshops on creative writing, poetry (both literary and performance) and Hip Hop.
