"Watch The Sky Fall - Koncept"

A lot of rap videos can be tired and unoriginal, but this was a pleasant break from too much of the usual. Last week, the dude Koncept of the Brown Bag AllStars dropped a crazy new official video for “Watch The Sky Fall” featuring Royce Da 5’9 and produced by Marco Polo. Koncept and Royce are nowhere to be found in the video, but instead they’re played by a couple of bad bitches that seem to really need a new truck… Czech out these visuals as they carjack BBAS producer/emcee J57 and take his whip for a joyride.

Keep an eye out for Koncept and the rest of the BBAS crew. These cats put in work with the best out and deliver nothing but quality hip-hop. If you dig this track you can get the single or the entire Awaken album from I-Tunes. - ECKO UNLTD

"The Source Premieres Koncept's New Video"

Queens-bred emcee Koncept of the Brown Bag Allstars presents us the new video for his Royce Da 5’9-featured track, “Watch The Sky Fall”. Directed by Pace Rivers, the video follows two seemingly innocent beauties around who are actually up to no good. This Marco Polo-produced cut lives on Koncept’s Awaken album, which you can purchase on iTunes right here. - THE SOURCE

"Koncept - Awaken - Review - Listen"

Still sleeping on Koncept? Consider this newly-released cut, the title track off his latest album, your wakeup call. The contemplative awaken finds fellow Brown Bag All-Star J57 coming together with multi-instrumentalist Rob “G Koop” Mandel to craft a wistful live-band backdrop for Kon’s reflective verses. For more, check out awaken (the album), available for digital purchase via iTunes or in physical form via Fat Beats. Fans can also click here to peep the record’s official video, directed by Brian Robinson. - DJBOOTH

"Top 10 Breakthrough/New Artists: 2011"

Andy Bustard: Predictable? Yes. Deserving? Absolutely. There wasn’t much hope for anybody trying to persuade me out of handing Tyler, The Creator this number one prize. Having seemingly only existed among the nichest of hipster niches back in 2010, to being propelled onto mass laptop screens and TV boxes (VMA in hand) off the back of a certain roach-chewing visual is nothing short of a true zero to hero story. Last time I checked, he didn’t switch up on a single song, either. Impressive. The past 12 months have been kind to the more tight-eared true school heads, too. The emergence of yet another butterball emcee from the Big Apple, Action Bronson, did B.I.G. and Pun proud with both his independent album, Dr. Lecter, and the subsequent collaboration with Statik Selektah, Well Done. Rounding out my list includes ScHoolboy Q, 9th Wonder’s artist Rapsody and Brown Bag AllStars member Koncept. - KEVINNOTTINGHAM

"Brown Bag AllStars' Koncept To Release "Awaken," Featuring Royce Da 5'9"

The BBAS member goes to retail on a Soulspazm release featuring Marco Polo and Audible Doctor on the boards.

Queens, New York emcee and Brown Bag AllStars member Koncept will release his solo studio debut, Awaken on January 17, 2012. A follow-up to Kon's 2010 free EP, Playing Life, this Soulspazm Records project features Royce Da 5'9, along with frequent collaborators Sene and Soul Khan.

In addition to Audible Doctor, the 11-track album features production from Duck Down Music's Marco Polo. The DXnext alum is a former employee of New York City's Fat Beats Records, along with his BBAS band-mates.

Previously, Soulspazm has released projects from Torae, Dice Raw, Malcolm & Martin and others. - HIPHOPDX

"The 2011 Playback: AllHipHop.com’s Top 25 Underground Artists of 2011"

Koncept
Through his multiple tracks with Tranzformer and J-57, Koncept spins tales about life’s complexities in such a way that enables the listener to get a better idea of who he, as an artist, actually is. His truth is always reflected in his lyrics and in a world dedicated to artistry that is not usually on the level, this knack that Koncept has for spitting reality as he sees it, is truly appreciated. - ALLHIPHOP

"Time To Awaken"

AllHipHop.com caught up with Brown Bag Allstars’ (BBAS) own Koncept, and while he may be known for being a lethal lyricist with his BBAS brethren, he’s been out in the Hip-Hop streets rolling solo lately as he promotes his new album and rocks numerous stages to support it.
But make no mistake, his BBAS Crew is represented on every song! Check out our interview with the BBAS Alum, Koncept:
AllHipHop.com: Thanks for taking out a few minutes to speak with AllHipHop, Koncept. We see you’ve been getting it in with the solo thing for 2012. What have you been up to the last few months?
Koncept: Thank you! I really appreciate your love and support. It means a lot. I dropped my official debut album, Awaken, on Soulspazm Records. We also dropped an EP for the project on wax titled, Watch The Sky Fall. Been pushing the album and having a great time!
AllHipHop.com: That’s dope! So talk to us about the new video. What was the concept (no pun intended) behind the video, and who was involved in the direction and production?
Koncept: We just dropped the J57 “Pulp Fiction” video. It was directed by our homie, FreshPres. We wanted the video to have a real raw feeling to it. J57 and I both grew up in New York listening to that real raw authentic sh*t (excuse my language), and that’s what we wanted the video to reflect.

AllHipHop.com: Ah, ok, that’s what’s up…
Koncept: I am also proud to let you know that my video for “Aspirations” is now in rotation on MTVu, which features Soul Khan and is also produced by J57. This was produced and directed by Hyer Ground.

AllHipHop.com: So then, we can expect to see some Brown Bag Allstar cameos in them both?
Koncept: You can catch J57. It’s actually his record; I’m just the featured guest on it. This was the first video for his EP(s) dropping later this month (May 2012). Every project that we do, even solo, is always a Brown Bag AllStars record. For instance, my album, Awaken, is my solo debut, but it is still a BBAS record. J57 produced the majority of it with The Audible Doctor. Soul Khan is featured on the album. Deejay Element does scratches on it. Then I have some of our other brothers on it. We keep it in the family.
AllHipHop.com: Oh wow, very nice! I saw that you are about to go out on tour with Those Bodega Brovas and Tanya Morgan. When does all of that kick off, and what are you looking forward to the most?
Koncept: The tour starts in Chicago on May 23. Honestly, I’m really excited about it all. It doesn’t get much better than being able to travel around, rock new places, and do what I love. Making money while doing it is always great, too! [laughter] I’m gonna get on stage and smash it every night. I just got back from touring the UK with Soul Khan, too. I’ve been having a blast!
AllHipHop.com: Sounds like fun! So what’s next on the horizon for Koncept? What can we expect to see coming up from you in the near future?
Koncept: Right now, I’m working on an EP all produced by my Brown Bag brother, Deejay Element. You can expect that to drop sometime this summer, along with a bunch of fly videos.I am working on my next full album, but I can’t talk much about that yet. [laughter] We also got a Brown Bag Allstars EP dropping soon. It’s in it’s final stages now. There’s no official date just yet, but it’s sounding crazy! You can stay up on everything at www.iamkoncept.com. Thank you for your support! Again, it really does mean a lot.
AllHipHop.com: Thank you, Koncept, for speaking with us, and we look forward to hearing more in the near future. - ALLHIPHOP
