ABOUT "WHAT IT SEEMS IS WHAT YOU GET"

ENGLISH
"A crazy adventurous groove-heavy journey of mind blowing rock, samples, and general whacked-outness. Yummy!"
Rock Sound UK

"...the whole thing just cooks with an energy that's as elemental and from-the-gut as it is cerebral ... hard to explain, but easy to love, and highly recommended."
Blabbermouth.net

"... you must be prepared for a progressive and ultimately groove laden experience ... this has crossover potential to any forward thinking rock and metal head,
Mtuk Metal 'Zine

"No other band, at least none of any I know - succeeds in flinging such sledgehammer blows at your head.
Gothtronic

NEDERLANDS

Fret

"What It Seems Is What You Get duurt iets meer dan een uur en heeft mij van begin tot eind kunnen boeien."
Zware Metalen.com

DEUTSCH

Bio

Experimental Dutch rockers Kong started out in 1988. Simply impossible to pigeonhole, their unscrupulous musical collage melts elements of heavy metal, progressive rock, electronica, and the avant-garde, all of it backed up by extensive sampling and quirky sound effects. Adding to their unconventional approach, Kong's music is 99 percent instrumental, and conceived and performed quadraphonically, with each member of the group taking over a different corner of the venue for ideal sonic delivery. Signing with Peaceville Records, Kong debuted with 1990's Mutepoetvocalizer, then began to tour regularly all across Europe, drawing widespread praise from in-the-know critics and building a selective but dedicated fan base among those capable of grasping the group's bizarrely beautiful sonic architecture. After two more records at Peaceville Kong signed to Roadrunner and developed in a more dance orientated direction. In 2000 KONG decided to embark on an open-ended sabbatical so that its members could explore other interests. After a break of almost seven years bassist and co-founder Mark Drillich revived the band and attracted new recruits Tijs Keverkamp (guitar), Mandy Hopman (drums) and David Kox (guitar). In 2009 KONG released a new album which blends all elements of their unconventional style into a heavier and more intense musical collage than ever before. The sound and atmosphere refer and expand on the earlier works of KONG where sampling and electronica played a less prominent role. Still the music contains a lot of weird samples and loops and maintains it's high groove-and-dance factor. The release of this album was followed by a national and international tour in 2009 and 2010.
