Bio
The term Konichiwa is a Japanese greeting of “Hello” or “Good Day” or “What’s Up” . The band's name is derived from their theme song of the same name.
These five musicians have played together in different formations over the years. Konichiwa is now in its third year as a band and creative unit. They reside in coastal Georgia’s Glynn County or St. Simons Island & Brunswick.
Chris Harrison has recently joined up as lead guitarist and vocalist Harrison’s addition brings much creative energy & material from his long time project Tone Deaf Radio. His styling is more of a celtic-influenced-psychadelic-folk-brit-pop taking cues from mythology & beliefs in Native American spirituality & shamanism. Harrison has a term for this : “psychafolkadeliceuroraliancosmorock”.
Harrison's joining Konichiwa is natural since both Ackerman and Theiler have been part of the make up of Tone Deaf Radio for over five years. The meshing of the two projects has given some friends cause to call it “Tone Deaf Konichiwa”.
Konichiwa performs at many festivals, venues, clubs and have had some great concert invites including opening an outdoor evening show for The Indigo Girls (this was with their good friend Kellie Parr who also performs with them for certain shows).
