Bio
Kool HeaD started life in 2011 when members Brandon McMichael (Kayos) (vocals/writer) and Jason Nitti (production/writer)'s former band Ugly People disbanded. The group hails from Atlanta, Georgia/Brooklyn, New York, and after getting a wave of interest via their bandcamp.com page this past summer; they began working with Alien Records, Inc. Management (Le Castlevania, Bomshell) in July 2012 and signed to Allright Music Publishing/Shapiro Bernstein (David Guetta, Lady Gaga, Metallica, Celine Dion) in October 2012.
The publishing deal coincided with the band offering up their Black Wave EP as a free download via the website www.koolhead.bandcamp.com. This eight song EP consists of the bands' recordings of Leon, 'Stick Up Kids', Like a Drunk, Trans Am, Pills and Red Wine, Sunnys Room, Ryan Gosling, and Fame.
The results post Kool HeaD as a unique antidote to everything packaged and poised in the current world of Electronic/Pop Music by carving out a new genre within it called Black Wave. Several different well-known international DJs from Amsterdam, Italy and France were so impressed in the bands first single Leon, that it is being re-mixed for club and radio mix-show play.
Kool HeaDs songs are nostalgic, poppy, dance-able, and wittingly deep. Whether they are about chasing dying romances (Sunnys Room), middle-finger-in the air controversial funk (Trans Am) or angst-riddled anthems for a lost generation (Stick Up Kids), Kool HeaD tackles these themes with unabashed catchiness in a Black Wave soundscape.
