"ELEMENTAL MAGAZINE"

Kool Sphere (Verbal Threat) reached out to Dj Premier & Kool G Rap on the single Reality Check / Reckless Eye Ballin'. In this day and age with the overabundance of music being pushed, this single makes it all worth while. Sphere takes it back to growing up in Queens with "For the true props back to suede pumas and tube socks graffiti writers rocking trains scoping the roof tops."
Certified classic - FAT BEATS DJ ECLIPSE WRITE UP

"XXL MAGAZINE"

Representing a more traditional form of lyrical terrorism is another biracial duo, Verbal Threat. The East-West tandem of KOOL SPHERE and Reppond (repping Queens, and Calif respectively), cite, the late 80's and early 90's as it's era of inspiration. How appropriate then that they're managed to recruit real hip-hop spokesman himself, Dj Premier, to produce their latest single. The fine "Reality Check" is about searnest as it gets, with lines like KOOL SPHERE'S "Verbal Threat connects like Keithy E and Wax Master C" (quoting originl names of Gangstarr members Guru and Dj Premier.) Fortunately, Dj Premier's cleverly orchestrated sampled vocal tics and car-ignition sound effects mesh beautifully with the tracks somber piano melody, elevating VT's painstaking true-school ethos to a plac beyind its similarly sincere peers. - XXL Magazine (Chairman Mao)

Bio

Growing up in the hip hop fertile ground of Queens, New York, there was no choice for Kool Sphere but to completely immerse himself in all elements of the hip-hop culture that was sprouting from the hot city blocks of the late 80's and early 90's. Through hard work, focus, and determination, Kool Sphere became adept in everything from break dancing to graffiti. In the end though, he could not deny that he yearned to follow in the footsteps of such legends and pioneers like, Run DMC, Nas, Kool G Rap, Gangstarr, DJ Premier, and AZ, to name a few. After many years of completely entrenching himself with their styles and listening closely to every lyric and every beat developed in the "golden age" of hip hop, he finally started to develop his own signature style that pays homage to his predecessors and stays true to his own voice.

In 2006 Kool relocated to Los Angeles and began to collaborate with his long time rhyming partner M.C. Reppond. The result of that collaboration was the formation of the powerhouse duo that would become VERBAL THREAT. Together they went on to record an underground classic single entitled Reality Check which was produced by the legend himself, DJ PREMIER. This marriage of talent was pure magic. The thumping beat ( thought of by many as one of Premiers all time best), together with the smooth and insightful lyrics, proved to be an instant classic that is undeniable once it's heard. The single sold when vinyl sales were at an all time low, proving that those in the know had to have this timeless track in their collection . The video for Reality Check?, produced by DAN THE MAN from G-UNIT FILMS, was played on MTV U and VH1. The video had more than 1,000,000 views on YouTube, and was nominated for an MTV VMA Award in 2008.

By the Spring of 2008 Kool Sphere was in the studio recording tracks for his debut LP, INTEGRITTY. INTEGRITTY contains 16 head knocking, well crafted bangers that raise the bar for the cookie cutter lyricism so prevalent in hip hop today. For INTEGRITTY Kool enlisted hip-hop legends AZ, Kool G Rap, Smoothe Da Hustler, Lil Dap from Group Home, Smiley The Ghetto Child, and Wu-Tang Clan's Bronze Nazareth, to help close the deal on the already strong compositions. INTEGRITY also features a special appearance from Rhona Bennett, formerly of En Vogue. In the winter of 2009, Kool beat out thousands of contestants and was chosen as one of the top 10 finalists in the "Violator's Management Who Got Skillz" . He got flown from California to New York City to meet the panel and perform live in front of a celebrity panel.
