Biography

KOREY BOWIE
Korey Bowie….singer, songwriter, producer, instrumentalist, teacher, speaker, favored. These are just a few titles bestowed on music’s newcomer Korey Bowie. A blend of Soul; Rhythm & Blues; and Contemporary Christian, Korey’s musical style has landed itself into a new genre, fittingly entitled, Rhythm and Blessings --R&B….For Your Soul. Hailing from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the son of musical, faith filled parents Korey JaMalle Bowie began tapping into his interest in writing and production at the tender age of 13. Korey’s loves of musicianship lead him to study and receive his B.M. in Audio Recording Technology at Georgia State University in 2005. Already a talented singer Korey’s love for musical theory allowed him to move from the drums to the guitar to the keyboards with ease but, his true love was writing and production. Early in his career Korey wrote for Gospel Artist Betty Burnes Lee; The True Praise Youth Chorale and, Savannah State University's Wesleyan Gospel Choir but, everyone knew much more was to come from Korey Bowie.
Korey desire to share his gift and love for music led him to accept an exciting teaching position at Atlanta’s New Schools at Carver – School of the Arts. As the Music Technology and Audio Recording Instructor Korey poured his heart and soul into developing the curriculum for his students and helped them soar in the process. Bowie’s 2009 senior class were the first students to graduate from the four year music curriculum that he designed for the school.
“Korey is an artist and educator who performs and teaches with passion. He is truly a modern day ‘Picasso’ of music.” Dr. Marvin A. Pryor – Principal - Carver School of the Arts
In the fall of 2008 Korey launched Invested Music Group and will release his self penned and produced debut LP, Life and Love, Vol. 1: Songs of the Heart, nationally by late 2009.
Life and Love, Vol.1: Songs of the Heart, features sixteen original tracks by Bowie all showcasing his incredible vocal and production talent and introducing him as a writer whose songs will leave an imprint for years to come. Standout tracks on Vol.1 include; “I Made It”, an early Gospel Radio favorite, earning Korey early praise at radio with wins three nights in a row on Atlanta’s Praise 102.5 The Coco Brother Radio show Battle. Other great tracks include the urban radio favorites; “Right Now” and “So Hard”, showcasing Korey’s R&B flair; “Is For You” – a strong hip-hop influenced track with beats that hit hard enough for the club and lyrics that reveal Korey’s true heart for worship; ‘Top of Hill,’ where Korey manages to blend acoustic and electric guitars with a Hip Hop style drum beat and old school DJ scratching all while encouraging us to keep our eyes towards heaven and never stop pushing and; ‘Favor Ain’t Fair,’ a song with a seductive melody that pulls the listener in while teaching them the truth about God’s favor.
Korey is also becoming a very sought after writer and producer. In 2006 he wrote and produced the dynamic praise& worship album “OUTPOURING” for his sister in Christ, Leah Lee. He also penned the song “I Do Worship” featured on CeCe Winans Presents: “PURE WORSHIP” on EMI Gospel/2007. Upcoming projects for Korey include writing and producing a song for Gospel Recording Artist, Darwin Hobbs’ 2010 album on Tyscott records and, Korey recently completed production on a track for Coco Brother’s upcoming release featuring Joann Rosario and Tye Tribbett also on Tyscott.
This is truly the beginning for Korey Bowie, with all that God has invested in him the best is yet to come. Look for Korey’s debut LP; Life & Love Vol 1: SONGS OF THE HEART, this fall on Invested Music Group.
