Bio

Newcomer Kori Jean Olsen’s powerful country vocals and nuanced vocal styling clearly come through in her debut album titled ”Reason Why”, released in June of 2009. “Reason Why” contains 11 country rock, country pop, and blues songs. Although small in stature, Kori Jean’s determination and big voice are evident in songs like “Run Away”, “She Ain’t Got Jack”, and “Fight Like A Girl”. Kori Jean’s smooth vocal on the title track “I’ll Be Your Reason Why”, displays her innate ability to capture a message of loyalty and love with passion and intensity. Each of the songs on the album reflects a personality trait of Kori Jean’s or a storyline that Kori Jean can relate to in a real way. Kori Jean is off to a powerful start with her newly released record.
Kori Jean was born in Provo Utah, but definitely calls Austin Texas home. Kori Jean is 19 years old and her journey began as she started to realize that music was a passion and she wanted to make it her career. Kori Jean began singing and playing the piano at the age of 9. Kori Jean spent her early high school years performing throughout the community in Austin Texas. At the age of sixteen, Kori Jean decided to compete in a competition called Austin Idol. The contest was set up to send the top finishers to the American Idol tryouts in Dallas Texas. With hundreds of contestants, Kori Jean blew away the audience and judges with her rendition of a Frank Sinatra classic “The Way You Look Tonight” and the Carrie Underwood tune “The Night Before Life Goes On”. Kori Jean placed 2nd and was followed by Fox 7 news to Dallas to try out for American Idol. After the American Idol experience, Kori Jean looked for a more conventional way to expand her musical career. After speaking with many recording studios in Austin, Kori Jean ran across a studio in downtown Austin Texas called Flashpoint Recording that felt very comfortable. At Flashpoint, Kori was introduced to Paul Pearcy. Paul agreed to produce Kori Jean’s first album. Kori Jean was able to work with very seasoned musicians and song writers at Flashpoint such as Walt Wilkins (We All Cry), John Hagen (cello on Reason Why), Kenny Grimes (Lead Guitar) and others.

Kori Jean ultimately plans on moving to Nashville Tennessee to pursue her music career. Kori Jean is currently playing live in Austin Texas and the surrounding region, making frequent trips to Nashville Tennessee.
