"Zona Critica - Musica - Korsak"

I like to look in your eyes’.

"Made in Canarias"

Korsak has established itself as one of these Island’s most formidable Acoustic Rock Groups, focussed upon their own original works which are created with thought provoking lyrics and rhythmic, organic sounds. The line up went through several changes during the last decade, and now, founder Simon Korsak feels that he’s found the right chemistry, with Israel Garcia on Guitar and Vocals, Aleks Burdeos on Drums, Rasty Skocik on Electric Bass and David Lopez Gutierrez on Percussion, with Simon himself on Vocals and Rhythm Guitar. In 2009, the band released “Free Feet”, a studio album consisting of 13 original compositions, recorded and edited in Tenerife with the collaboration of Kike Perdomo and Dremen. Korsak have a very busy agenda, with a 2010 UK tour and frequent concerts throughout the archipelago. - QFM - Islas Canarias

"TOP BANDS & ACTS ON TENERIFE: KORSAK"

Korsak are a five piece band whose influences range from Steve Winwood to Jack Johnson to Ben Harper. Great musicians, especially guitarist Israel Garcia, and music to rock to. Having an ultra charismatic lead singer in Simon Korsak doesn't do the cause any harm. These guys will have you dancing, laughing and singing along. Don't miss them. They play venues in the north & south Tenerife so no excuse. - The Real Tenerife

Bio

Korsak are a multi-cultural, multi-styled band comprising of members from five different regions of Europe, whose musical influences are as disparate as their geographical origins, brought together in the cultural melting pot which is Spain’s Canary Islands…

This is what the band presentation sounds like:
On acoustic guitar and vocals, from Birmingham in the UK….
On electric guitar and vocals, from Barcelona, Spain…
On the 5 string fretless bass, from Trnava, Slovakia…
On drums and vocals from Bordeaux in France…
And on percussion and vocals, from Tenerife in the Canary Islands. …

When you see a line-up like this you know you’re in for something special.

The newest member, virtuoso percussionist and pretty boy David Lopez, has been with the band for five years. The original members, songwriter/lead singer/wannabe surf hero Simon Korsak and 5 string fretless bass-player and master craftsman Rasty Skocik have been playing together over 10 years. Crazy little French drummer Aleks Stickabouch joined them a year or so later, and, after experimenting with a flurry of talented musicians, this groovy trio secured the services of bad-ass muddyfunster Israel Garcia on electric guitar.

That was 8 years ago. Since then this formidable line-up has been one of the foremost artists on the Canarian music scene.
Selling over 3000 copies of their first album “Free Feet” in concerts alone, their success in the islands was unquestionable. Playing to both tourists and locals alike, they wowed audiences to the extent that they were frequent invites to events sponsored by Coca Cola, Arehucas (the Canaries biggest rum manufacturer – drummer Aleks and percussionist David are still hoping for permanent personal endorsements!) and other major players. Their services were also applauded and sponsored by the Canarian Government and their popularity brought them to play on 40 Principales, the major Spanish popular music radio network, as well as play all over the Canary Islands and in mainland Spain. Barcelona’s famous Razzmatazz venue amongst the gigs rocked.

After recording their second album “Learning To Be Quiet” and then having both albums mastered by lauded mastering engineer and top bloke, Nathan James, Korsak are now taking their music to the world.

This year has seen more concerts in Barcelona and two promotional tours to the US, the first with Simon and Israel, and the second with the whole band.

Wherever they go they are invited back, the proof lying in the harvest reaped from the first duo tour in March 2012, which saw the boys invited to return to play 5 days on San Francisco’s illustrious Pier 39, where they launched the new album and sold 150 copies to passers by and locals. They then returned to New York, this time as the full line up, to play in the legendary Café Wha?, (a gig they had procured from singing one song at the open-mic night and playing with some of New York’s finest musicians) and at one of Harlem’s coolest spots, Shrine.

Korsak will be in Austin, Texas until the end of September, where they have already made a great impression at the Strange Brew, voted Austin’s Best New Club and Best Acoustic Venue 2012/13, invited to play another gig whilst they’re here and an offer to come play during SXSW in 2014.
