"KORY BLAQ" (Singer & Songwriter) With R&B/Soul so far in the rearview mirror of a more thriving, up-beat, and popular genre of music; now has never been a better time for the resurgence of a sound that captivates, influences, and changes the lives of so many …Kory Blaq is the courier of that sound. A native of South Park Houston, Texas, Kory has been singing since the age of 6 with his musical aspiration of Super Stardom beginning in the local church choir. He pursued his dream even further by competing in many talent shows including the well known Star Search, Showtime at the Apollo, and American Idol (Season 2). After being a member of the R&B male group “24/Seven", managed by Matthew Knowles, Kory Blaq decided that it was time to explore music as a solo artist. Fully aware that the industry is fueled by catchy hooks and head-nodding beats; Kory desires to cater to an audience that longs for R&B music that not only makes fans dance; but gives them solutions, hope, and the feeling of being in a deep and intimate relationship; in his words “the grown and sexy crowd.” With numerous recordings under his belt, such as the soulful “Gotta Change” or the rhythmic “Miss Understanding,” Kory’s vibe pays homage to the late 1980’s and early 1990’s R&B vibe. Although attaining a recording contract has long been a goal of the artist, he has become known for his songwriting abilities and continues to work on many southern rap projects delivering infectious hooks. His belief is that all of these opportunities have given him a chance to perfect his craft in order to become a more seasoned and marketable artist. Although it may seem to some that the music industry has migrated away from vocals, the singer believes that there is longevity in his approach towards his first major project. With proper industry backing coupled with Kory’s smooth sound, likeable personality and image, undoubtedly it is a recipe for success. By way of compliments from one of the industry’s hottest Producer and Songwriter, “he has a very soulful and unique voice,” and as such, there is only one way that Kory Blaq can go; and that is up.
