Ko-Shin

BandRockSinger/Songwriter

Ko-Shin's music channels the melodic/emotional intensity of artists like Joni Mitchell, Jackson Browne & The Who. Her voice can range from tender to soulful & haunting, with an emotional delivery that is heartbreakingly sincere. Her powerful voice, masterful piano, & stellar songs cut to the core.

Biography

Forged in a musical age of copycats, retro-pop nostalgia, tv contests, and corporate flavor of the month creations - a luminous independent musical visionary emerges.

Ko-Shin's innovative music weaves a rich tapestry of radiant sonic artistry that reverberates through the experiences of people everywhere. Her tales of love, loss, transformation & self-realization create a brilliant soundtrack for life's multi-colored journey.

"I write the music I am yearning to hear. I fearlessly say what I want to say, focusing on the poetic truths and hard-won realizations gathered from my life."

With a powerful collection of lush, provocative keyboard driven songs, reminiscent of the great music of the early 70's - Ko-Shin serenades her audiences - often inducing them into a trance, and sometimes bringing them to tears.

"After a show - people will come up to me and tell me what a journey the performance was, how it touched their soul. Its pretty wild seeing grown men cry. I think we need more passion and honesty in this world, and that is what people are responding to."

In her hometown of NYC, Ko-Shin has performed at many local clubs including: The Cutting Room, The Bitter End, Kavehaz, Cafe Vivaldi, Pete's Candy Store & The Alphabet Lounge with many stellar musicians including Matt Johnson (Jeff Buckley, Rufus Wainwright), Jeff Hill ( Natalie Merchant, Paula Cole) & Cameron Greider (PM Dawn, Freedy Johnston).

She is excited about her upcoming EP release - in Summer 2007, and plans to tour the world, have her music playing on soundtracks, and be backed up by an orchestra. In no particular order!

The Walls of Jericho

Written By: Ko-Shin

This is not like we planned it
This is not over- no!
You and I were "The Real Thing"
Now we’re "The Walls Of Jericho"

And I need to believe this could happen to be learning how to let go
Seems like the more that we need, The less we receive
Everything feels so unsure

These are my soul’s commandments
These are deals made in stone
And I need my happiness
More than I need to feel your love

And I need to believe this could happen to be learning how to let go
Seems like the more that we need, The less we receive
Everything feels so unsure

La la la, la la la la
La la la, la la la la

Wall around me there’s a wall around me - there’s a wall around me of pain

And I need to believe this could happen to be learning how to let go
Seems like the more that we need, The less we receive
Everything feels so unsure

La la la, la la la la
La la la, la la la la

Spinning Blind

Written By: Ko-Shin

She thinks her life is not important from 9 to 5
She never smiles or says “thanks” to passersby
And all the sadness that she feels
Keeps her spinning blind
She’s lost herself, and why?

She reads the magazines, and wonders why her life
Can’t be magical like movie stars and trophy wives
She finds a cure inside a bottle
To deal with necessary evils

Oh Martin Luther King, Jr
We haven’t come a long way
Since you left this world
It’s still the politics of hate
And all the horses and all the King’s men
Could not find a way
Imagine all the people
Imagine all the people

He thinks his life is unimportant
His parents died when he was seventeen
and now he questions love and tries
To be like water, lying low
Under a rock you’d find him stoned.

He has ideas and education
Is seeking truth and spiritual liberation
But prefers living as a ghost
He has no solace and no hope

Oh Martin Luther King, Jr
We haven’t come a long way
Since you left this world,
It’s still the politics of hate
And all the horses and all the King’s men
Could not find a way
Imagine all the people
Imagine all the people

I still have a dream, I still have a dream, I still have a dream

Oh Martin Luther King, Jr
We haven’t come a long way
Since you left this world,
It’s still the politics of hate
And all the horses and all the King’s men
Could not find a way
Imagine all the people
Imagine all the people

Vessel

Written By: Ko-Shin

In a blanket of night, a cloak of arms
A feather of time, I feel the love
January, February, - time flows
Love creating, love making love grow

And this is who you are, and this is who you are!

I saw you on the stage
I saw you play the piano
Your fingers, little spiders - crawling
Bringing your love to the world

And this is who you are, and this is who you are!

Rich in every way known to me
You are beauty!
Passion and love create the world
A seed, a thought, a circle
Do we believe to give it life?
Does it exist without our sight?
Are we the vessel?
The bird takes flight when we embrace our Truth and live in Love

And live in love...

On the shores, a distant sea
Breaking waves - set me, let me, get me free
And I know who I am to be
In the past it truly frightened me
The ocean wide was swallowing my pride
Fathomless sea - holding me
And this is who you are, and this is who you are!

And I love who you are, yes I love who you are!

Rich in every way known to me
You are beauty!
Passion and love create the world
A seed, a thought, - a circle
Do we belive to give it life?
Does it exist without our sight?
Are we the vessel?
The bird takes flight when we embrace our Truth and live in Love

And live in love...
