Bio
With a smattering of pop and a drizzle of dance, popular Brighton based act Kovak were formed by brothers Karl and Darren Bray and began life as an (admittedly horrendous) experimental rock band, having converted their fathers shed, much to his chagrin, into a recording studio when they were 15. Since those halcyon days, the sounds have developed and the incredibly catchy tunes have flown from the collective Kovak pen freely. Most recently the band spent 2 months on the “Good Morning Garage” most requested bands chart in Japan – including a 2 week stretch at the Number 1 position. Broadcast on Inter FM “GMG” is the most popular morning radio show in Tokyo and an offer to play at Japan Music Week soon followed which is where the band headed in November.
After some electrifying performances at The Brits 09 snowboard party in Laax and the legendary Animal Windfest party, the band are fast becoming hot property in the extreme sports world - helped by the fact that front woman Annelies regularly struts her stuff on her kiteboard and snowboard.
The band's debut album “Heroes & High Heels”, produced by Andy Gray who recently produced Enter Shikari's acclaimed new album Common Threads, was released at the beginning of April. They are fast selling out of the limited edition run of copies – available from the Kovak Myspace page.
The track, Sex Electric, taken from Heroes & High Heels, is featured in Micheal Madson's new film, The Big I Am.
Kovak are currently writing and recording brand new material and Club Kovak (the band's neon electro-tinted party night in Brighton) returns soon, welcoming The Orb's Alex Patterson, following the success of August's Club Kovak with The Go!Team.
