"KOVAS Makes Major Musical Breakthrough in 'Prom Night'"

The Sony Screen Gems motion picture, "Prom Night", has been scaring up major numbers at the box office. It debut #1 in it's opening weekend and just this past weekend came in #3 earning over $33 million dollars in two weeks. The movie also features the music of a new amazing artist/ producer,KOVAS. It features 4 songs from KOVAS "Love and Touch", "Up in Here", "Say What" & "So Hot(Popcorn)" and the soundtrack for the movie has 2 songs from KOVAS and its currently #24 on iTunes soundtrack albums. KOVAS a virtual one man show, running his own label, Ghetto Beat and writing and producing some of the biggest names in music. KOVAS is on the verge to take the world by storm. Finally, a reason to believe the hype.

KOVAS has produced and remixed for some of the biggest names in music, including Justin Timberlake, Chris Brown, De La Soul and more. But the New York musician is perhaps the industry's biggest kept secret to date. With an incredibly diverse cultural background, a talent for playing five instruments, and a passion for musical multitasking and mixing, KOVAS exudes fresh energy through a self-created, utterly unique genre. Think: a mesh up of hip-hop, rock, punk rock, electro and pop. Now, with his eclectic songs beating through the silver screen's speakers — all of which are written, performed and produced by KOVAS himself — the secret is out. With "Prom Night" (http://www.ereleases.com/pr/2008-KOVAS2.jpg) moviegoers will undergo a musical experience like never before.

"It's exciting to have my music included in this movie and to be a part of the project," KOVAS says. "The chosen songs came from 'The Arrogance of Youth' (http://www.ereleases.com/pr/2008-KOVAS3.jpg), an independent project that I released myself through my own private label, Ghetto Beat. About a year ago, a couple of music supervisors heard it, loved it and pitched it to the film's producer, who thought it was perfect for 'Prom Night.'"

Inspired by Stevie Wonder and Prince, both of whom have played every instrument and self-produced their albums, KOVAS is a true virtuoso. He composes the music, writes the lyrics, plays, sings, raps and produces his own material. "The Arrogance of Youth," a bold, musical mix-match representing different youth cultures, brands KOVAS' diverse talents and plays on his well-earned confidence as an independent producer. The debut EP is available on Ghetto Beat thru iTunes worldwide (http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewArtist?id=48326315) and other digital retail outlets.

The KOVAS “Wax On, Wax Off” video makes its debut on tonight April 30, BET’s 106 & Park 6pm eastern and features The Beat Freaks, runners up on MTV's Randy Jackson’s America's Best Dance Crew (Season 3), an all-female dance team from Los Angeles. The Beat Freaks have achieved individual success in music videos and tours with world-renowned artists including Justin Timberlake, Pink, Avril Lavigne, Miley Cyrus, Chris Brown, Britney Spears and Madonna and in a host of movies.

KOVAS, who has done ghost production and songwriting for a lot of successful artists before branching out on his own, plays five instruments, sings, raps and engineers on most of his productions. He is a Brooklyn native with an incredibly diverse cultural background and a passion for musical multitasking and mixing. Not relying on sampling to create his music, KOVAS began to compose music, pulling from his Latin/ French Moroccan heritage, as well as rock, punk, soul and hip hop influences. Ultimately, he has created his own sound and his own unique genre called Ghetto Beat. Ghetto Beat is also the name his production company & digital record label.

Among his accomplishments, KOVAS has four songs featured in the Sony/Screen Gems movie “Prom Night,” wrote the song “Hasta La Vista” that is featured in The Disney/Jonas Brothers movie “Camp Rock,” is heard on Adult Swim’s “Worldwide Renewal Program” and was seen on MTV’s Making the Band 4.”

KOVAS has appeared on tour with De La Soul, Billy Crawford and Jeannie Ortega.
He has done musical scores for film and TV, winning an Art Directors Award for the ad campaign he wrote and scored for Noggin television.

He has also scored music for a Levi's jeans ad campaign and a documentary film, Hip Hop Immortals.
On his 12th birthday, KOVAS received a skateboard and a turntable and it forever changed his world. By skateboarding KOVAS was introduced to kids with different world views. By spinning records on his turntable, he began to learn to DJ and developed a passion for music. He was influenced by everyone from Dr. Dre to Nirvana. He later began to focus on the producers and was drawn to the work of Rick Rubin, the Neptunes, and Timbaland. His recording debut came in 2000 when a collaboration with Maseo, "Words & Verbs," landed on the Tommy Boy compilation Hip Hop 101. In 2003, KOVAS produced the track "Attitude" for Nick Cannon's self-titled album and later, KOVAS remixed "Fiddle with the Beat" for Lady Sovereign and "Hips Don't Lie" for Shakira w/ Wyclef Jean. In 2007, he restarted his own artistic career with the EP “The Arrogance of Youth.”
