Bio

K-Pet is a combination of a Trinidadian MC, a Japanese guitarist and three Canadians making New-Urban music. Together they create a music that is as unique as their multi-cultural roots. K-Pet's new CD, Chapter One, is a testament to their musicality, creativity, and originality.

Forming in 2002, this Kitchener-based band had a desire to blur the lines between studio creation and live performance. That year Guitarist Kazuto Okawa, bassist Cliff Snyder, and drummer Karl Snyder released Connection featuring singer Natalia Lobach (who later left to pursue further education). Throughout 2003, K-Pet expanded the scope of their studio creations and performed them live using a synchronized video screen to compliment their instrumental performance. During this time they began collaborating with the Trinidadian-Canadian MC, G Brown. The band lineup was completed shortly thereafter with the addition of Meghan Riley in early 2004. The time was right to begin work on the next K-Pet release.

The six-song CD, Chapter One, was released in July 2004 and is uniquely packaged with a 40-page book of poetry and images from which the lyrics of the songs were inspired. While it may be the lush layers of music that grab the listener’s attention, it’s the hard-hitting lyrics that won’t let go. The musical depth showcased on Chapter One is immediately recognizable.

With the unique cultural makeup of K-Pet, it’s no wonder that Chapter One brings a fresh new dimension to both Urban and Pop genres. Catch one of their live performances, pick up a CD, or listen to clips on their website, www.k-pet.net
