Glory Of The Singles EP (2009)

K Phanie was exposed to music at a very young age. Growing up in Quebec City, she sang in a number of choirs as a child and in high school, studied in a special program including music performance and theory instruction. While continuing her singing lessons, she was also part of her school’s concert band, playing the flute. For her CEGEP and university studies, she devoted herself completely to her vocal and music training. She completed a Diploma of College Studies in classical singing, as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in music, with a major in jazz and pop performance at Laval University in Quebec City.
Throughout that time, she taught herself to play piano so she could accompany herself on stage and strengthen her composing skills. In fact, composition became increasingly important to her, leading her to find her path as a singer/songwriter/composer. This creative work reinforced her passion and her skills, so she quickly began to incorporate poetic and sometimes quirky lyrics to her melodies, first and foremost in English, then slowly reuniting with her native tongue, French, to bring its beauty into an innovative bilingual mix of songs.
In August 2005, K Phanie hops on the stage for the first time as an original act, opening for fellow Quebec band La Chambre at what was then called Le Kashmir on St-Jean street. The adventure begins.
In both summers of 2006 and 2007, K Phanie toured Western Canada with Australian singer songwriter Emaline Delapaix as pianist in her band The Delistocracy, also opening every show with a few pieces of her own. They also toured in Europe in the spring of 2008.
The summer of 2007 also saw K Phanie wave goodbye to Quebec City and fly westwards to Vancouver BC where her inspiration found renewal and thriver. There she joined local bands Witness and Isobel Trigger as lead singer and keyboardist respectively. She also started working on her EP Glory Of The Singles due in late October, 2009, while playing a few gigs in the city.
K Phanie’s music is influenced by various eclectic sources, from 1980’s New Wave, to contemporary French pop, as well as British electro-punk or progressive rock... and also a touch of musical theatre and even a bit of jazz. Let yourself be charmed by this artist and her little world of colorz and sparkly soundz… And step into the Pink Groove.
