KR

Kevin Richardson Dorsey, a.k.a. KR, is a Newark, Delaware native. He began playing drums at the age of five at the Christina Cultural Arts Center. He learned the rhythmis styles of such genres as Jazz, Latin, Afro-Cuban, Funk, Rock, and Classical. KR wrote his first publicly heard rap for the student government association,where he was chosen by the SGA to rap the student announcements over the intercom of his school. He began developing his free-style capabilities by engaging in rap battles during his freshman year in high school. These battles became and everyday occurrence, which allowed him to mature that craft. Throughout his high school days, he'd be involved in Drum Line, making beats on Fruity Loops and Acid, playing drums for the rock band "The Truth", and playing for the All-State Jazz Band. KR is heavily influenced by the rock, hip-hop, pop, techno-jazz genres. As a student at Berklee College of Music, he became involved with the pop rock/hip-hop production and performance crew, "Music is Priority." He has performed throughout numerous venues in the Boston, MA area with both the "M.I.P." team, and the local band "Crowded Streets" as a guest artist. He has also collaborated with series of student musicians including the music production team "Gonta P". KR is currently the pioneer artist for the movement "Big Thangs Poppin," a cohesive in-house collective of proactive agents, managers, A&Rs, promoters, music and show producers, music engineers, songwriters, and videographers committed to progressing the musical career of "KR."
